Drawing inspiration from Over Knight by Alsciende and Damon Stone talking about not spending credits to break subroutines, I wanted to make a build that tried this concept as often as possible. Exile seems like the choice, because of the free card draw, kate would possibly be equally beneficial, but the idea is that money isn't the issue.
The economy: Since we're not breaking subroutines for dollars most of the time (bypassing still counts with femme :/), money can run in the 'build a rig' range of cash. So, aesops based econ with Daily casts and armitage, bolstered by lucky find and SG should be perfectly fine. Supplement draw with money with Pro Con and we should be good.
The breaker package Overmind breaks everything, and saves counters with GHook and D4v1d. D4v1d takes care of wraparound (worst use), and the big boys. Both D4v1d and OM like ghook to make them more better. LLDS reduces breaking costs further by taking care of "one to pump" and adds a fallback aesops target if cash just isn't showing up. Same old thing is in the deck to trigger levy in bad situations, and scavenge femme around in good situations. Test run femme + scavenge is always a great play in shaper, you can't have enough copies with Exile in the mix (gets you a card every time!).
Extras As the game goes on and the ice layers, the toolbox helps do some heavy lifting giving you more counters on our guy OM, and 2 credits to go along with the LLDS money savings. SMC and clonechip help find the one-shots (Deus and SharpShooter, as well as D4v1d and Ghook when you can't draw them). D4v1d might be better as faerie, and just run tinkering, but I'm not sold on that yet.
Are the cost savings of spending tokens to break subroutines enough to merit consideration? Is Slysquid right that Aesop's is an awesome econ card? I think the answer to these, and many more questions, is an emphatic, YES!
Changes? If money is more rampant than I expect, I might consider putting in some cybersolutions memchips, maybe even in place of the akamatsus!
Prepaid voicepad? Probably not unless it goes the Kate route.
Multiaccess? Definitely a needed component, if the base package works, then we can work on multi access facets. If lucky find seems to be 'too much' I might put in 3 legwork, and find slots for indexing, TME, or RDI.

Surely a deck like this is tailor-made for the e3 Feedback Implants? I think you need a contingency for Wraparound, too, as you only have the one D4v1d. |

Maybe the right answer is drop ghook and just use E3. For hive and komainu, they are work aroundable. You would be surprised at how much this deck can recur things, particularly the overmind. Early on SMC + CC will get you ghook enough to deal with hive, until it begins losing subroutines, then it doesn't matter too much, OM can handle it. Komainu, just run with less cards, 3 or so...but ghook handles it too. Deus X would be an effective add though. |

I like this deck idea, seems very limited on access though some punishment is needed i think like R&D/HQ interface. E3's are the right idea i think you don't actually need the grapple if you have E3 and d4v1d. (that could be some bias though i had poor experience with grapple coming up against only 1 sub ice) I think the deck will really benefit from Trade In when it comes out then you can happily run 1 E3 and 1 HQ and go looking for your console whenever you want. |

Yea I listed in the body that it needs multiaccess. I think E3 is okay but not as good as everyone is making it out to be. We're looking to refresh the counters as needed, David and ghook actually get you in when you need. E3 is nice, but yea, trade in would help quite a bit. I'm honestly thinking cut sharpshooter, and 1 sure gamble and 1 d4v1d for 2 E3 if that is in fact better than d4v1d, but then we're breaking subs for dollars rather than counters. |

Icedman
Wow, I've been pondering the same thing (can we break without money?) and came up with almost the exact same deck core it seems :-) My version Haven't had a chance to play it yet; have you taken yours for a spin? If so, what did you find (other than the multi-access weakness you mention)? |
I think this is a great setup but there are certain pieces of ice that will give this deck a hayday. Grappling Hook is only as good as the amount of times you can recur it, so consistently getting through something like a Hive or (especially) a Komainu since recurring GHook will give you another card in hand. Luckily these aren't too prevalent but in the off chance you go against an asset trap Jinteki PE, they will most likely be having Komainu all over the place since it sets up the traps better. Anyway, those are just two very specific things, otherwise only Swordsman sticks out as an ice that could stop it all the time. I don't know if Deus X is worth the time/credits to get out to break a swordsman.
