5th @Interconts [DEFEATED]: The Brother Brawler!

Santa 1749

Changes:

The spice here is Pharos.
- I found the main thing I was concerned about was Clot
- In testing the Pharos provided a nice ability to pivot towards building a remote against a Clot deck.
- In the actual tournament I didn't end up encountering any Clot, but the deck faltered due to some other reasons described below.

There are a lot of minor modifications you could make, but the version I took to worlds is my personal suggestion:
Changing Clothes [Worlds: 5-3]

Games:

R1 (Loss): vs bridgeman on Hosh [Replay]
  • Not too much to note here.
  • I had a little below average speed, where bridgeman played very well and had a faster setup
R2 (Loss): vs rongydoge on Hosh [Replay]
  • I made a massive misplay this game. Discarding Audacity instead of Big Deal on turn 10.
  • I realized this immediately afterwards, playing Pivot just to get another Audacity shortly after.
  • Even if nothing else changed, I would have won as rongydoge later trashed out the Big Deal leaving me 1 card short in HQ from scoring out with Audacity for the win.
  • This game hurt quite a bit as the misplay very obviously cost me the game.
R3 [The Brother's Brawl] (Loss): vs Maninthemoon on Hosh [Replay] [Streamed]
  • This match was against my brother, where we were playing from within the same living room.
  • Sometimes you low roll games and this was one of the worst.
  • I knew I got bad draw, but watching back the replay I had drawn 25/49 cards (over half my deck) with only having played a single Hedge Fund and a one advanced NGO Front for Econ.
  • Beyond the bad luck, this matchup was a blast to have. Only fitting to have the person who got me into the game, knock me out of interconts.

Why the delay?

Two fold:

  1. I was working on releasing THE NEWEST AND HOTTEST FORMAT CHIMERA!! 🎉🚀🚀, and its associated website:
    playchimera.net
    • Go check it out if you haven't :)
  2. I was feeling quite down on my performance within interconts. It was the first time I had more self pressure for a tournament. Misplaying the game against rongydoge, plus the terrible draw vs Maninthemoon had me feeling rather disappointed and discouraged.
    • I've since adjusted my mindset, and going to worlds was a lot of fun. We all make mistakes, and its important to learn from them, rather than dreading it. I am very excited about the future of the game, and competitive play.
