Now, this is a pretty standard Skorp rigshooter deck from the old MWL. I don't have much to say about it, except maybe the triple Standoff.
The reasoning here: Tithonium and Archer are your best ice, as they have a nasty combo with Batty, gearcheck, and tax. Running 5 between them feels good.
Also, since you can only get 1 Hunter Seeker per agenda steal, having 0-pointers in your deck gives you more opportunities for that, which feels great.
But that's the old MWL. Why do I bring up this deck?
Under this new MWL, I've been playing door to door NBN, asset spam, standard glacier, Mti, and what these decks have in common is a taxing plan. In other words, a strong runner economy is the enemy of these decks.
What strong runner economy is: cards like Sure Gamble, Daily Casts, heck even Data Folding, ProCon, Magnum Opus (unpopular as it is right now), Pawnshop engines (until you run out of stuff)
What strong economy is not: redundant copies of breakers you need to put into your deck so that you don't get locked out by Skorpios.
Now with Skorpios (and also PU's random milling) out of the meta, runners can now afford to play less copies of their important breakers and more copies of their economy, and thus Skorpio's removal from the meta indirectly hurts the corp faction as a whole. :(
Though I guess it also means the runner faction is stronger (aside from losing CV0 and decks around the field losing one form of bullshit or another). Does anyone have the winrate statistics? Does the corp side need the help? What sort of new MWL changes will NISEI make?
But back to the topic of rigshooter. How do you punish runners that run singleton breakers?
Run rigshooter in another ID? Haha, most of the meta is anarch that runs all bin breakers. And the shapers just got their clone chips finally off the MWL and you bet that they are using it. That said, people have been using the grail ice in mti, though destroying rigs is less of a plan there (Hunter Seeker not included)
The other option is to try to play Skorpios without hunter seeker, and that doesn't look lucrative either. Sometimes you couldn't actually get a breaker RFG pre-MWL, and I don't see it ever happening when you don't have the free trashes of hunter seeker. Like maybe the plan wouldn't be too insane against shaper if they clone chip/LARLA'd cerb like PPVP kate of old. But shapers either run Paperclip, Laamb, or are pawnshop decks with Brahman for cerb. Feels bad. If you insist on going on this route, there's much less reason to play standoff, which in turn means less reliance on archer and tith, and more reliance on rototurret. Not a fan of this option.
Maybe the solution is to just play a fair netrunner game of whatever Jinja City Grid Ultraviolet Clearance Fairchild 3.0 or whatever, and be grateful that you're not fighting against CV0.
Obviously playing a fair netrunner game is what the designers wanted you to do. That's shown as much with the latest MWL which nerfed so many unfair archetypes to the ground.
So yeah if the best decks of the future all are fair decks, congratulations on your metagame diversity. The nature of metagames is to be self-correcting though, with players using tech to suit the meta, though of course the relative powers will shift the equilibrium.
And then there's the world champion cards. I wonder if these will ever be legal. Border Control seems pretty insane for that cost.
