The Windowless Wonder- Quinn's Tournament Winner Undefeated

Giraffe 141

First of all I'd like to give a shout-out to everyone who organised and participated in Quinn's tournament, it was a really awesome day :)

Now onto the exciting part, I get to do the whole publishing my winning deck thing :D

I have been iterating upon Prepaid Kate builds ever since Prepaid VoicePAD came out. My first love was Rielle "Kit" Peddler: Transhuman, but this answer to everything style of deck was just too much fun to not play. I hadn't really played that much in the past 6 months or so, so boy was I happy to see that the deck style I enjoyed so much had become a viable archetype :) So i had a look at some decklists (apologies for not knowing how to do the derived from thing) and used what I saw to help me pick up from where I left off on the quest for the ultimate toolbox deck.

Now this deck isn't called The Windowless Wonder purely because it passes on the best card in the game Window, but also because the corp never truly has a scoring window against it. Even if you're dirt poor with no breakers out, the burst economy combined with Self-modifying Code and Clone Chip with always get you in.

The general strategy with this deck is to draw a lot to find money and tutors, so that the corp never feels like they can make a move. As a note about the economy, Day Job isn't as good as Lucky Find, but I wanted to pack enough disruption to mess with the corp's game plan. Imp and Utopia Shard make NBN fast advance feel really uneasy, and Crescentus makes Weyland miserable. I faced a decent amount of Jinteki and the MVP of those games was Parasite, aint no way I'm actually paying to break those sentries. This deck keeps thing simple, there's enough denial and multi access to keep the corp on the back foot, but it doesn't try to do too much and so is always ready to respond to the corp's next move.

This deck performed extremely well, but most importantly was so much fun to play :) Nowadays this isn't the most original style of deck, but toolbox Kate has been my baby for ages now and I am very happy with what it has become. I personally prefer this deck to ones with more streamlined economies because it allows for programs that can disrupt any sort of deck type, and what's more fun than ruining someones day :)

Congrats on the Win. Looks like a tough deck to play against. As an RP player I hate these kind of decks, especially after the Levy Refresh. I once could rely on people not playing decks like this due to fast advance but looks like those days are over. I'm even considering porting my playing style to Gagarin netrunnerdb.com

In fact, seems like killing you might be the best game plan. Have you played a Butcher shop style deck or etc?

Sweet Gagarin deck :) n that's what Utopia Shard, Imp and Plascrete Carapace are for, if you suspect a scorch threat try and get it out of hq. Also, Crescentus and Parasite can help keep you winning the economy war. Hope this helps :)
