Space Turtles - 3rd NZ Nationals

Linger 360

This deck was designed to fight the credit denial decks.

Suggested adjustments:

How to beat the deck:

  • It fails to Magnum Opus and/or Parasite Shapers decks
  • Imped Noise mill decks

Swiss Rounds:

Round 1 vs Wizzard - L4C - Win agenda points

Wizzard trashed his SMC for medium on turn one to dig unprotected R&D. Allowing me to install a scoring remote. Snatch and Grab the single Kati Jones stopped for accumulating money to beat the ash trace.

Round 2 vs Luke's Noise - Win agenda points

Noise lost all his parasites to kill ices in the centrals allowing me to score agendas from the well protected remote.

Round 3 vs Angus's Gang-sign Leela - Win agenda points

Deck was similar to Thug Life Leela
Was really interesting match-up! Leela installed gang sign and logos on turn 2. So scoring agendas with low ice density was extremely painful. First agenda scored - bounce R&D ice and logos to makers eye. Second agenda scored - bounce HQ ice and account siphon. The only hope was Team Sponsorship that allowed me to hide the agendas from HQ straight to remote server after scoring.

Round 4 vs Robin's Magnum Chaos Theory - Lose

Illegal deck state: was missing 2 agendas that was literally stolen by Leela. Robin's deck was similar to Stimshop Bydgoszcz
Without NAPD and The Future is Now I was loosing a game to mighty Magnum Opus, that was installed on turn 1.

Round 5 vs Amber's Calimsha Kate - Win agenda points

Deck has survived against three makers eye runs. Managed to install a scoring remote under Tour Guide with 6 subroutines.

Top 8 Cut:

Round 2 vs William's Paige Workshop Noise - Win agenda points

After loosing 4 agenda points at the beginning from unprotected R&D and remote server. I have Snatch and Grabbed the Aesops pawnshop and managed to set up a 3 PAD + 3 turtleback remotes to generate heaps of money to score agendas with help of Ash 2X3ZB9CY.

Round 4 vs David's Mill Noise - Lose agenda points

Corp turn one - new server, new server, enigma on R&D. Runner turn one - lamprey to tipple run on HQ. Sadface.jpg

Saw this on stream and tried to build something similar.

The turtleback/tech startup synergy is amazing. Installing tech startup can net you 6 credits. Playing gagarin felt always too slow because spamming assets is a tempo loss. With turtlebacks, it is not. Amazing deck.

Thoughts on not including Hedge Fund?

@weepinggorilla The main problem was not in making money - the problem was scoring the agendas.

Initial setup is tricky and painful. However once couple of Turtles and Pads up and running the money is not a problem.

How did Snatch and Grab end up working out? I kind of feel like in Gagarin I'd rather have Contract Killer, since it's another asset. The downside is that you have to leave it vulnerable for a turn, unless you tutor it from Tech Startup (which is itself vulnerable to the same, I suppose). The upside is that it doesn't matter how much money the runner has, which probably doesn't matter as much against Noise, but matters quite a lot against Kate.

Anyhow, thoughts?

@Saan Snatch and Grab worked very well, dropped down criminals by killing Kati Jones and Noise by killing the Aesop. Also in a pair with Elizabeth to kill Wildsyde helped to stop noise engine.

To activate the Contract Killer you will need 4 and 4. Even if you gain some credits back from Turtlebacks it's still expensive and time consuming action.

@Linger Actually, contract killer is amazing with tech startup. You may give it a shot.

Took this deck into a game night, lost pretty badly. I think in my case I should have Jackson dug for econ instead of trying to shore for ice. Getting the turtlebacks and pads first should have been my priority. Maybe even with a Yog out put ice in front of assets just as a possible deterrence, especially with an archer threat on the table.

@AsteriskCGY thank you for the feedback. Icing up can be a problem. Also some runners can crush this deck in a blink of an eye.
This deck needs a lot of practice, you should analyze the game state really good. This will help you to score agenda from either an unprotected or a protected remote.

I've loving the deck. I made a few changes, including the ones you advised above, @Linger, but it's just a phenomenal build. -1 caduceus, +1 ice wall -1 Tour Guide, +1 Enigma -1 Diversified, -1 Interns, +2 Datapike (simply because most Weyland Ice sucks, and we need more code gates early on) -1 Root, +1 Corp Town -1 Snatch n Grab, +1 Contract Killer

Love this list!!! Grats on the strong finish!

i think decks like this are actually the new way to Corp. including lots of one-ofs helps you tech everything while at the same time burn through a deck (like if you don't need a Mills because you're not against Val) to get to the win condition you need. bravo.
