OK Stuff Adam

j4 69

I've been playing this deck a lot on jnet casual and a weekly Polish meetup league thing, and having a decent amount of success with it.

@Jai just posted a somewhat similar Adam build yesterday, so I won't bother repeating everything, go read that first if you're looking for a primer on Adam in the current Standard meta - The Bridesmaid

That being said, some insights into card choices that differ:

  • A big goal here was to limit bad starting hands, because those can really choke Adam before he gets going at all. Smartware Distributors are one way of commiting to that. They wil make a lot more first turns workable, even decently productive, and shine in slow matchups where you need screw-you money before commiting to regular running. Just keep in mind that even with the solid click efficiency, they're still here mostly as a crutch. Don't use one if you don't need one. You don't have to keep them loaded all game, and you don't have to install them at all.

  • On that same front, I limited the number of copies of Overclock and Multithreader because they tend to be cloggy during the early game. I sometimes miss the third Multithreader though (if only to ditch an early copy to Emergent Creativity).

  • Unlike @Jai, I actually really like the DJ Steve, he's pretty low on the list of cards I'd consider cutting. The way I see it, if you recur one Bomb, it's already worth it, and it only gets better from there. He can really improve staying power.

  • Docklands Pass and The Turning Wheel triple down on HQ pressure, and make sure you can usually see the entire HQ on demand, which won me many games. One of these is an easy cut if you have something else in mind, though.
