Hopefully a little less shitty this time. Also now officially tagme-aggro Gabe.
Gonna explain why I've got all these cards in there, more so that my logic can be torn apart and examined than because I think my reasons hold any water.
EVENTS
Account Siphon, Dirty Laundry: Dolla dolla bills, y'all. AS is the main reason I decided to make this deck tagme. Well, that, and because I have fond memories of MS-todon from back in the days of old NR.
Emergency Shutdown: I like running on HQ. It's a free event that, when used right, can cost the Corp a huge number of bits. I could honestly be convinced to bump this up to 3.
Express Delivery: If I had the spare influence, this is where I would put the Diesels. Pseudo-draw so I don't have to rely entirely on John.
Forged Activation Orders: It can whiff, but, at worst, it's "$1: Expose an ice", which is still pretty okay. Might pull it down to 1 after a touch of playtesting. (Probably for another Emergency Shutdown, honestly.)
Inside Job: I loved this card in old NR, and I love it now. In the early game, it might as well say "access the data fort of your choice". It's also useful for the occasional probe on remote forts after a Dirty Laundry. Basically, I'm using it like a normal person might use Drive-By.
Legwork: Hello, dolly. I actually pulled my HQ Interfaces and bumped this from 2 to 3 because HQ Interface is expensive and expensive + aggro is a bad combo, especially since I'm already Event-heavy enough that my Event support makes this work better.
Planned Assault: I can't run this many Run events and not have SOME way to pull the right one when I need it. Worth the slot just for letting me use it as either a Legwork or a Maker's Eye.
Special Order: Breaker tutor. 'nuff said.
Sure Gamble: I feel like this is kind of a mandatory 3-of in any deck that doesn't have some gimmicky reason to stay at below 5 bits all the time.
Maker's Eye: R&D threat. Only 2 instead of 3 because influence.
HARDWARE
Desperado: MONEY MONEY MONEY. Also memory. Would be at 3, but I built by tournament rules so it costs influence now.
Plascrete Carapace: Kinda mandatory in a tagme deck, yeah?
RESOURCES John Masanori: Risky card draw! Probably tag-trash bait, but hey. A click spent trashing a resource is a click spent not making my job harder.
Same Old Thing: About half the time, I'll be playing this like it's a triple-event that copies any event in my heap. The other half of the time, I'll be installing it because I got nothing better to do with it and it's clogging my hand.
ICEBREAKERS
Corroder: Good all-purpose Barrier breaker.
Faerie: Keeps that facecheck into a Neural Katana from being a game-ending faceplant. Or lets me blast past an ICE on the cheap if I absolutely need to.
Mimic: Obligatory 'normal' Sentry buster.
ZU.13 Key Master: The first sentence might as well be blank, but it's still a nice, cheap Code Gate breaker that doesn't cost too much to pump. Cheap is good.
PROGRAMS
Datasucker: Nom nom nom I love running on HQ and making ICE cheaper to break.
Leprechaun: Gets along better with Sneakdoor than most other memory-granters and Daemons.
Sneakdoor Beta: Making the corp spread their ice thinner is always nice. Gotta be able to threaten every central fort, or so I've been told.
TELL ME WHERE I SCREWED UP THIS TIME

I think I would drop the Leprechaun in favor of a thrid Deperado and a third sucker. Typically with Gabe, you don't need more than 5 MU as Sneakdoor Beta ist only good for so long as you typically run either sneak door and 2 breaker or drop the door for other breakers. I like playing the door more as an additional pressure point for the Corp and drop it the moment it becomes no longer viable to run there. Learning when to keep and when to drop is one of the key aspects of a good Gabe play :-) I would also drop ZU.13 Key Master in favor of Peacock and get a thrid The Maker's Eye. Peacock together with Datasucker is not so bad and if you want to go aggro, go all the way. Atman might alos be nice if people you play against still play stuff like Eli 1.0, though it seems you are already focussing on post-NMW where it might be less common. You might also want to consider dropping the Planned Assault in favour of some central breakers to have redundency after program trashing (which criminals are inherently weak to). If you feel risky, you can also drop down to one Plascrete Carapace and get another run event you like (Dirty Laundrys never bad :-) ). Drug Dealer would also be good and might also allow you to drop one Plascrete Carapace for something else. If you want a really "old school like" deck, Security Testing should also be in the deck for more money. Nevertheless, I would test this version and change stuff only after several games. Have an eye on Forged Activation Orders, I adore this card but it seems to pull it's weight only when playing against Weyland :-( |
Have you considered Drug Dealer instead of John? Using Gabe/Desperado I feel like you wouldn't be that hurt by the credit. Drug Dealer is way better for tempo than Sym. Visage and allows you to stay aggressive without tag fear using John.
