What can I say, many of my friends know I have had a love hate relationship with Quetzal since her release constantly switching between her and my well worn well tested CT deck, but finally we are here with a damn good deck (Big thanks to everyone who said this ID sucked) Now we Just need to wait for the Valley So down to the deck/what you need to know
No placrete? your scorched and punative defence is a combination of I'v had worse (steelskin) well timed Wanton Destruction and Account Siphons. all of which have a use when not against a kill deck as long as you never take a tag against an argus deck with false lead scored, you should be fine.
Queens Gambit not day Job? As you would expect I faced many Anarch decks that day and one brilliant scoring window for the corp is when an Anarch ends their turn on two credits in order to Day job next turn, Queens Gambit has no such tell and can get you the same amount of credits in four clicks if you really wanted to, The main downside is accidentally hitting agendas, The one time I did it that day was on a NAPD, but it paid off as I makers eyed second click for four points and game.
Makers eye for multi access, over this decks life it has run multiple combinations of Legwork, Makers eye, Nerve agent and Medium. I sort of realized a while back that nerve agent sucks compared to medium, and no matter how far down your medium goes agendas are typically the hidden away in the top three cards, hence the makers eye. Legwork was replaced with wanton destruction as they basically fill the same role.
E3 its not overly important, it just saves you a few credits here and there and stops you burning through overmind. it can be quite good when going against Blue sun due to Hive being a typical opening ice and as a way to cheaply shut down Oversighted Curtain Walls.
Vigil +1 one memory makes a big difference when your rig is three pieces it allows you to run data folding for a credit a turn and makes your overminds a bit better. The draw power is compatible to Astrolabe but its a bit less effective against NEH
Data folding, you are always going to have 2 free memory units, so you will always get this money useful for upping darwin if you are missing feeders or if you just need credits.
Fester, the thing about this deck is you actually kind of want them to purge, its a massive tempo swing in your favour, its even better if they lose four credits because of it. they then typically think they can score in which case you overmind and get whatever they tried to score.
Order of sol, free credit for going bankrupt, makes hedge Gamble better, can be used to up darwin. tempted to go for a third datafolding instead but I won't spend the spare influence.
Darwin, put it to four strength, with D4V1D and get where you want.
Mimic in case of Swordsman
Overmind for sudden purge recovery and as a back up incase of a cyberdex suite mid run.
No Current events? Although the corp currents make running a total PA Scrubbed ruins D4V1d and Protesters is useless as I have no Bad pub, the best way to turn these off is to score agendas.
I think Quetzal might get even better in the future when Genetic modification is introduced in the new cycle, even with the currently spoiled criminal mod she would be so much better, you could see when corps have kill combos in hand, or when they have agendas that need to be Destructed allowing for more focused running.
