1st Place Runner Store Championship, Carbondale IL

Disturbed1 249

First ever SC win, so I thought I'd share. Piloted to 3-1 record, beating our Blue Sun, HB ETF, and RP. Single loss to a Blue Sun with Janus and Punitives.

Once I get OaC, I want to swap Inside Job out for Spooned, and maybe drop the Parasites for a Datasucker, though Ive been using this build, with minor tweaking, for a couple months now with amazing success so far. If I can manage to get ProCon out quickly, I have very few econ problems as most of the rig is so cheap to get in play, and it helps even more (along with Astrolabe) against Jinteki, which has been popular in our local meta recently.

What's LARLA for? Cambridge PE safeguard?

Inside Job is quite a weird choice in Kit deck. How useful is it ?

@saltytacopanda AR will not save you from PE.

@saltytacopanda I use LARLA to allow me to aggressively dig through the deck with proCon if I REALLY need to find something without fear of not being able to get it back. Contrary to soultsunami's declaration of it not halping against PE, the ability to cycle cards back into the deck to draw to give me both more cash to use to break/steal/trash and more cards to sacrifice when I hit a trap, it's still very useful.

@Lupus Yonderboi I found it more useful than I had originally imagined it to be. It can effectively function as just another 1-click Tinkering run (opposed to 2 to use Tinkering and then running) and can be really helpful if they rez ICE that will still be pretty expensive to break through (Curtain Wall, expensive Bioroids, Tollbooth, etc.)

Interesting deck and love to see Kit in top spot. How do you find the matchup versus NEH ? I'm finding Stealth Kate with pro-co to be great in many games but just too slow vs. NEH.

On the LARLA front, I'm a fan of that card (one of the few in my experience :), so kudos for including but how about 1 SoT instead of the 2nd Levy? Two reasons, you can throw it away if get Levy early so doesn't clog hand ( 1-card not a big deal but ... ) and the other reason being if random PE damage gets it, you can just drop the SoT later as soon as get it. The extra action to do the Levy doesn't seem to matter. Just a thought.

Nice looking deck! I might switch out LARLA for some tutoring though so you can get that refractor faster.

@sruman NEH definitely makes it a race. Iirc, the deck has been about 50/50 on it so far, but it isnt played too much locally so I dont have as much practice against it as I would like. As soon as I get a Refractor and single Stealth cred down, I start poking around to cause trouble. Just depends on who pulls what to take the lead first. I like the idea for SOT. I used to have a couple in there in a previous version of the deck that had more events. Dont remember why I dumped them, but it didnt even dawn on me to drop one for SOT. That'll probably be a change I make before I play this again. @djencode I used to have a couple Special Order in there, but dropped them. I havent had much problem since then with getting Refractor/SMC in my opening hand. It can definitely be helpful though.

@Disturbed1 I main PE. Most runners with Levy will be careful about not getting it net damaged; which translates to more opportunities to score 3/1 agendas. A reluctancy to run means more opportunities to score out Philotic, Future Perfect, etc.

@Lupus Yonderboi I have had similar success with Inside Job, 3/10 influence is a tall order, but it really helps keep your playstyle relevant even after a full rig is assembled. Also, against RP, you need a way to be relevant in the first place if they make you chunk your ID ability on a central server. IJ helps keep your rig active without your ability, which can be clutch as many Kit decks are built entirely with that ability in mind.

Another question -- in the blue sun matchup how was the Lady token situation? Given a curtain wall eating up 2 of them per run, any pressure there? I suppose you can refactor it on the outside but it's 3 stealth credits to get there which might be tight.

27 Jan 2015 Disturbed1

@soultsunami I agree it can make some players more hesitant to run against PE cause they dont want to lose it, which is why I had 2 in the deck (and why @sruman suggested SOT in place of the second. I find it more effective to just make sure I have enough stuff down to make myself a viable threat, and then facecheck stuff. Lots of PE Ive seen doesnt run heavy on the ICE, so there isnt a need for me to have too much of my rig down to be able to break through, and if it means I can only check one facedown card per turn cause I hit something that does actually damage me, then so be it. At some poiint, I'll Levy to make sure I dont run out of cards to dump. Im not saying you are wrong, but Ive found PE success depends heavily on how willing your opponent is to take the net damage to see what you are trying to sneak through.

@sruman Assuming the Curtain Wall is on the outside, Lady actually costs more to break than Refractor does (7 to pump plus tokens, opposed to 6 to pump and break), though Lady doesnt need the stealth creds to make it work. I mainly used her for stuff like Hive or Eli, and then used her as backup if I needed the stealth creds elsewhere or had just the Curtain Wall out. Inside Job helped here as well, just trying to avoid paying out more than a few actual creds per run if I could manage.

@Disturbed1Do you have any problems with HQ pressure? Other than 'tricking' your way in (Tinkering, Inside Job) do you bother running HQ with no multi-access?

30 Jan 2015 tacullu

@Disturbed1 Did you know that the ICE you encountered and bypassed with Inside Job is still encountered, thus the second ICE won't get code gate? Just checking, man. :)

@ I do run HQ, though infrequently. If theyve been drawing a lot of cards I havent seen, then I'll make it a point (earlier versions of the deck had a couple copies of Legwork), but most of the time I would rather run RnD or a remote first.

2 Feb 2015 Disturbed1

@tacullu, yep, definitely. I use it mostly for going around expensive cards people like to stick in the way (big bioroids, Tollbooth, Curtain Wall, etc) just to avoid paying to break. It also comes in handy on the occassional run on a remote that they hoped to sneak out before I drop the breaker on the table.
