The Professor in London

Catsodomy 67

London Library used to push out programs fetched with Test Run or Same Old Thing (into Test Run ). Sacrificial Construct to hang on to programs on the library if necessary.

Datasucker is prime fetch material though.

While I admit I don't fully understand your full game plan with this deck, I'm pretty sure Femme Fatale would be a better choice than Crypsis for you. Using London Library to force out fem gets you into any server, and then you can either take it back off the library for next turn, or let it die and have the constant femme threat from Clone Chip for the late game.

I think the underlying idea is interesting, but this doesn't seem functional as is. I'm envisioning using the temporary breakers in play, supplemented by London Library. Early on you're using all of your clicks to set up and make runs without the library, and once you're set up, using the library to help recur those breakers. This is click inefficient, but by that time you should have a click-efficient economy ticking over to make up for it.

So I see how having D4vid, the dogs, and Overmind for a turn and then getting them back to recharge them is an attractive idea, but the clicks just don't seem to be there for it. I guess since it's all for free, all you're paying for is pumping and breaking, so maybe it would work if your clickless economy were very efficient.

The problem is that your Underworld Contacts need a Toolbox to function. That seems like a massive hurdle, and that's just to get half of the system running. And if you expect the Data Folding to be giving you money before you get Toolbox as well, you're basically ceding the early game to the corp.

My suggestions: Change IDs. As it is, you only have 18 influence, so you're barely getting anything from the Professor. I suggest a runner with built-in link, like Kate or... Exile!

Exile works with Test Run and Clone Chip, and Scavenge works well with all of your breakers (except Crypsis, and I agree that it should be a Femme). Maybe cut the Sacrificial Constructs for Scavenge.

Maybe also cut the Toolbox for Dyson Mem Chip? or maybe 2x Dyson 1x CyberSolutions? I know the recurring credits really help, but maybe you can cut 2x Overmind for Cloak or something.

Since you need to cut 3 influence outside professor, and 2 cards anyway, I'd say Imp could go.

Anyway, cool idea. Best of luck.

Yea, I appreciate the input, most of these things you mention I actually thought of after I built this. Crypsis is currently there as a placeholder, and would probably change to Femme Fatale. I was thinking about Rachel Beckman (another under used card), and possibly dropping the Clone Chip and Underworld Contact for New Angeles City Hall and some more econ. Or keeping the Clone Chip and getting rid of Sacrificial Construct.

The last thing is, no one here plays The Professor: Keeper of Knowledge so I build un-used IDs as thought experiments.

No Scavenge to make a breaker permanent after hosting it on London Library?

I am pretty pumped for this card in Professor and Hayley. Not that it will make him super competitive yet... but it will be pretty sweet.

I wholeheartedly appreciate using an underused ID, which is why I advocated Exile over Kate (and I think it's a good fit for him as well). If you're going to stick with the Prof though, you should be doing it for a reason. I guess if you're running Prof just to run Prof, it doesn't really matter whether or not you're running more programs just to run more programs.
