Pre-rotation decklist |
I've been running variations on this deck since Nas was released. It's been through more edits and seen more play than any deck I've built. Know, then, that I am serious when I consider Nasty Nas one of the best runners in the game.
This deck is brutal, and I've seen so many corps look at my obscene rig and shudder. I've run on a server only to plant into Archer/Inazuma/Ichi 1.0/Lotus Field/Susanoo-No-Mikoto and came out with an agenda and a massive profit. I watch their faces fall as they rez their ice, I smile, and my rig falls into place. Why can't I hold all this rig?
A great Nasir play is to install big, chunky cards with tempo-draining costs until you hit 0 credits and then make a run. They rez? Hey hey. Tempo regained. They don't? Hey hey, access. Running with zero credits never felt so good. Spending all my money turn one is my new dream come true.
EVENTS:
All Nas needs is Stimhack. I don't think I need to explain why Nasir loves Stimhack. He does. I used to have Net Celebrity in here, but it ended up not being worth the click most of the time, but if nasty Corp currents are ruining your day, it's worth the space.
HARDWARE:
Aside from the ability to go anywhere, anytime, R&D Interface is Nasir's win condition. Love that 4-card access.
Dyson Mem Chip and The Toolbox provide essential MU and link. Get them all installed and we have nine MU and six link. You will want all that MU. As for link, you only need 2, really, to turn on Underworld Contact. But hey, six link never hurt nobody. Ash doesn't look so bad when you got six link, I'll tell ya.
Toolbox and Cyberfeeder give me four recurring credits, which is always nice. Recurring credits are ONLY to be used if a) not using them would result in catastrophic ice death, b) you won't be running on any unrezzed ice this turn, or c) you're encountering the last piece of rezzable ice on a server. Don't waste them when another unrezzed ice is incoming.
Clone Chip gives us another way to spend money click-free. Grab Parasite, D4v1d, Imp, stuff that got trashed, anything. They have no specific planned use, but I use them all every game and wouldn't cut them for anything.
RESOURCES:
Earthrise Hotel is beautiful for all runners, and for Nas, the install cost is negligible. All install costs are negligible for Nasir. Spending all my money ain't nothing.
Ghost Runner is my mattress fund. Nasir, as good as he is, is liable to finding himself in sticky situations with a lot less money than he expected (traces, stealing NAPDs, trashing must-kill assets, etc). This is where Ghost Runner saves the day. Do not spend Ghost Runner credits unless doing so would save the day. They are finite and beautiful. Having nine in the bank to bail you out in emergencies is a beautiful thing. DO NOT USE THEM FOR DAGGER UNLESS IT IS MANDATORY TO WIN.
Personal Workshop and Order of Sol are made for Nasir. Come on. You know this.
Underworld Contact. My favorite card for Nas. Install him whenever, it doesn't matter if you don't have the link yet. You will. As stated before, you don't lose tempo installing stuff as Nasir. I know what you're thinking: "hey idiot, what's the point of start-of-turn credits if Nas's ID ability is just gonna make them all go away?" I'll tell you. With Order of Sol and these fellows, you can guarantee you will always start every turn with four credits. And when you're Nas, having credits to spend before the corp rezzes an ice is a big deal. with four credits, you can pay off your Personal Workshop cards, you can Clone Chip back any non-Opus program. You're two credits away from being able to SMC any non-Opus program. Four credits every turn is fucking gold. And when all their ice is rezzed? Free money you didn't have to give up tempo to set up! YAY!
ICEBREAKERS:
Only the most efficient. Nas never pays more than he has to. Dagger is brilliant and works wonders, and I never run into much trouble. If I do flub and a program gets trashed, Clone Chip to the rescue. Put Atman at whatever strength bugs you most that game.
OTHER PROGRAMS:
SMC: a perfect tutor, and a way to spend money before encountering ice. A must.
Cloak is self-explanatory and easy to find with SMC and Earthrise. I have no qualms throwing them away if I overdraw, I can always Clone Chip them back.
D4v1d is a great card for Nasir, letting him break the big stuff for free. Install cost makes it easy to get Clone Chip/SMC, especially with 4 guaranteed credits a turn.
Imp and Parasite are money-savers and problem solvers. Kill your least favorite ice. Kill cards you don't want to pay to kill. Insta-install as needed with Personal Workshop, SMC, or Clone Chip.
And the big one: Magnum Opus. Now, why would Nasir, of all people, want MO? Surely that's a nonbo. Not so! Nas erases the tempo hit of the install cost (what a guy) and an installed MO means you are always a threat. Did the corp throw a cheap ice over their glacier server? Run click one, and oh no, your money goes away! Jack out. Click MO twice, Stimhack. You just made 13 credits, plus your Ghost Runner and recurring credit stashes. Having big stacks of cash is also great when you have 15+ credits' worth of stuff on your Personal Workshop.
AND THAT'S NASTY NAS! I love him. You should love him too.
