Not Quite Right Kate (1st place Huddersfield Regional)

As the name suggests, this is a list that has been tinkered with pretty much non stop since the MWL was announced, and I'm still not quite happy with it! Seeing BBlum's regional winning list had ended up so close to what I was trying out gave me the confidence to stick with it and take it to the 45 player regional at IQ Games, Huddersfield.

The basic game plan is pretty simple, have Pro Co in your opening hand and go from there! With Councilman and PolOp you can contest most telegraphed scores (making the Palana matchup favourable) and can usually slow FA down enough with the threat of clot to start Indexing over and over. Obviously, Freedom is incredible with Indexing - a lot of games I got to 4 early and then just needed to land 1 Indexing with FTE to win, which is a good feeling!

In swiss this lost to temple NeH first round and then went on to beat Palana, Jeeves ETF, IG and Gagarin. I had hoped to dodge museum decks since the only "tech" is the 3 Indexing and Film Critic, but both games I managed to close out with good Indexings (3 agendas against Gagarin!). I wasn't prepared enough for temple NeH and didn't have a solid game plan against it other than hope to draw Indexings early - I wasn't able to find SMC to threaten Clot early and ended up getting astro trained.

After a nice sleep we started the top 8 cut. I chose to corp first round rather than play against temple NeH again, and a coin toss saw me playing corp second round too. In the winner's final I went up against Mark with Hinkes IG, a matchup I hadn't played at all. I knew my usual gameplan of ignoring remotes and trying to land Indexings wasn't likely to be successful, so I tried to control the murder down on the table but ended up hitting 2 Psychic Fields and losing both psi games. The second time Mark was able to finish it, knocking me down to the loser's final. Dave ended up being my opponent with Palana, so I was feeling pretty good about the game. He scored an early Nisei but used the counter to protect his flooded HQ, which I ended up taking 4 points out of the next turn. 2 Indexings whiffed and he scored a CST, but the third Indexing showed me the agenda I needed so FTE closed the game. Not much to say about the final against Mark's IG, first turn Astrolabe let me see Film Critic, Indexing and Hyperdriver in time to lucksack a 7 point turn right before he would've killed me. Sometimes variance is a bastard, sorry Mark.

The deck is still not quite right - Turning Wheel was never used and the second Stimhack was just thrown in there to make up the inf. I'll definitely be cutting them for a Legwork and probably slotting Deus X back in to help against Hinkes IG. There's definitely other questionable choices, so feel free to tear it apart! Thanks for reading my ramble-y wall of text ^^

Congratulations on the win! With 0 Makers Eye or RDI was Indexing enough R&D pressure? 1-3 RDI has been a Shaper standard in the meta for so long what was thinking behind dropping it?

Honestly I never felt lacking in R&D pressure, thought it is definitely light on it. The dream is you get an agenda with each Indexing and FTE the last one, but doesn't usually go like that. In testing The Turning Wheel did a lot of work but it always felt too slow this weekend. Switching to Legwork frees up a slot so I might add an RDI.

Congrats on the win!

How many times did you use the Levy on the day? I've played maybe a few dozen games with this kind of list and I think I've used it maybe once. Could free up 1-2 deck slots (if you bin the SoT too), which I know are really tight here.

Round 2 was Jeeves what? EtF or NEH? Congrats btw! :)

IIRC I didn't use Levy all weekend! Came close in the Prison IG game, and I think it's that matchup I want it most for. In testing it was good for getting more Indexings if they whiff and for PolOp/Councilman against Palana. Maybe if the slots were used for RDIs for late game pressure it could be cut, but I'm hesitant to.

Sorry, it was EtF! Fixed in the description, thanks for pointing it out.
