Dad Bod Asa -15th American Nats 4-1

SMITTYL 284

Hi all!! So I wanted to preface this with that I am a dad with 2 young children, so you aren’t going to get a fancy write up with GIFs just what I can write in 15 minutes between children tears, hence the deck name.

Background: the week of the tournament my friends in Muntal Bost were cooking up some creations in their lab. I tried one of their potential decks and was dismantled by hoshiko. This is when I realized that dad brain + no time to test + new cards = necessity to stay in the dad comfort zone. I have had luck with jammy Asa in the past.

Premise: my friend Radiant unintentionally gave me a revelation of a new spin. 2 remote Asa (purple Teia). One remote is your “hell remote” where you camp Mca and warroid. The other one is your scoring remote with Adrian and warroid. The wonderful thing is Adrian can roam around, protecting both as needed. You can fast advance once Mca is loaded or just to tax clicks while you score in the other remote normally (with help from wage workers).

Outcome: vastly exceeded expectations! No one trashed a card protected by warroid all day, Adrian was amazing with warroid. You can play fast as well, without bin breakers you can actually gear check the runner.

High: playing Ysengrin on the stream. He was very gracious to me. I realized at the beginning that 1) he is an amazing player 2) shaper late game will roll me over. I played hyper aggressive and won before he was set up ( turn 1 naked luminal was cheeky).

Low/high: getting dismantled by CTZ on 419, this is your worst matchup because of you aren’t rich enough to overcome Doof. Inside jobs/boomerang beat your gear checks. Low and high because it was a delight to chat after the game comparing Asa lists.

Conclusion: This list was thrown together with 0 test games so love to hear thoughts and improvements. Shout out to Radiant and Whiteblade making Cascadia possible and all their hard work along with the amazing NSG staff! Also shoutout to the Seattle / emerald city grid crew for keeping the game alive. If anyone is Seattle come hang with us! I joke that this game needs to live long enough for my kids to play, and everyone is doing a great job to keep my dream alive someday .
