NEXT Level v2.1.0

Icedman 46

So, not as much of a change as anticipated (at least as yet); I only started playing this iteration when I got the physical copy of Upstalk 2nd week of August. There has however been a shuffle in the ICE layout to make room for Mother Goddess and NEXT Silver, and putting in a Fast Track to help with the deck's occasional mid/late-game stall of drawing ICE for 4 turns straight.

I'm considering removing the AggSec for a Haas AI to permit some FA shenanigans. Plus, the Runner might not take the bait of an AggSec, whereas they're pretty likely to run a triple-advanced AI, especially once they know it's there :-)

I personally had issues with Mother Goddess; 4 for a 4 ETR is okay, and the synergy with NEXT is cool, but if they have any relevant icebreaker, it loses most of its potency.

Sweeps week and Successful Demonstration I found to be poor econ cards in these decks; Sweeps will sometimes net a +4 swing, but when people see a 12 inf identity they stop fearing scorch, so they'll often have less. I'd much rather have the lower influence +3 of Beanstalk Royalties. Successful Demonstration only has a small window of use at the start of the game; its usefulness rapidly diminishes as they get the icebreakers out.

Having said that, our decks would play differently: mine is meant as more of an early game deck, yours looks like it's in it for the long haul. My deck, if you fancy a look: netrunnerdb.com

How are the Ichis working out for you? Only just added them to mine.

Also, Archer seems an odd choice... is it only there to rez with Priority Requisition? Otherwise it really takes a chunk from your agenda points.

Yeah, my deck is more of a long-game prospect, though (obviously) with the right draw it will very quickly score out. I'm comfortable with where the deck is in terms of early-game wins, but the Fast Track and possible Haas AI are for when I go long.

To me, MG is at least a 3-cred tax (barring massive breakers) that buffs the rest of my NEXT ice; I accept that you've found it lacking but so far it hasn't done me too bad (again though, low sample size for myself). Importantly, even if the Runner is hitting my Silvers with Parasite, if I can get the MG and all the Bronzes online I've got 4 Str 4 ETR code gates out of them.

SuccDem has come in and out of the deck as I've gone along; I agree with you that it loses potency as the game drags. Sweeps on the other hand I quite like, though your suggestion of Beanstalk might actually see it out of the deck :-) Lotus Field (though I'll be hitting that Str 4 Atman vulnerability) might come in with the spare Influence as well...

I have to say, I prefer Archer to come out of an ABT or (best ever) sack the Pet Project to surprise the Runner. Over the course of the deck's life (I built v1.0 when CnC hit) Archer has hit a good number of times. Ichis are also working well; especially the 2.0 as it can tend to catch 3rd-click Runners. The 1.0 is mostly click/cred tax, but is cheap enough to be able to rez in the early-mid game where it needs to be dealt with.

Thanks for the comments :-)

... Given that ABT's free ICE rez has won me so many games, you think I'd remember that it ignores all costs! Might give Archer a swing in mine, I've been looking for a chunky sentry.
