I recently won a local Cache Refresh tournament on jinteki.net using this Runner deck. I did encounter some loses in my earlier game which is mostly due to my overcautious attitude of not attacking aggressively when I played against a Cerebral Imaging and Tennin Institute deck. I choose Criminal over Shaper because I am not so fond of slow build and this deck provides a very much simple and straightforward strategy.
Initially I have Maui but opted to go for Doppelganger to facilitate a more aggressive tempo by doing a double run in a single click. This helps Gabe to accumulate virus counter on Datasucker.
Also, my initial deck have Aumakua but don't find it to be that effective since most of the time the Corp player go for a more glacier style approach icing up their servers without giving chance for Aumakua to make frequent attack and gain the need virus counter. I later replaced it with Special Order to help get me my early breaker.
Crash Space was in this deck because i fear for Urban Renewal but didn't get to see any in play. No One Home is to deal with net damage when playing against Jinteki but I realise you only trigger this upon the first net damage in a turn. As such, I couldn't trigger No One Home to avoid the 3 net damage which happen after I ended my encounter with Anansi and can only use it for its 3rd subroutine. It was anyway a good learning experience to me (and fortunately I didn't get flatlined in one of game as I have enough cards in my hand). NOH, nevertheless was useful when dealing against the threat of Ronin as long as my cred is more than the Corp.
Aesop was there to help me pawn off Armitage and also Bank Job. I seldom get to trigger Bank Job because of the Corp's glacier game play but at least I can still utilise it with Aesop to get 3 cred at the beginning of my turn.
You may ask me why Gabe and not Steve Cambridge. I guess I just want to give Gabe a chance to see whether he is still playable but I do feel Steve will have greater utility as he can recur cards back into his hand especially when there is no Crisium Grid. But if do wish to play with Steve, I would recommend you to insert 3 Feint, 2 Public Terminal, and 1 Security Testing from Honor and Profit removing Daily Casts, Dirty Laundry, and Same Old Thing from Creation and Control.
If you are playing Cache Refresh, do give this deck a spin.
