VirtuoShock (2-6 Worlds 23)

Countzer0 114

This was a variant of a Virtuoso Sable list I’ve been playing for almost a year now. It went 2-6 at Worlds 23, beating 2 Azmari lists, but losing to an A Teia, NEH, R+, PE, Asa and SSO.

Honestly I’m a little surprised it did so badly at Worlds. I think the deck is solid, so it was probably my play that really let me down. Virtuoso is a great card that I think a lot of Sable players are sleeping on – the amount of pressure it can generate on a corp is terrifying, especially with Docklands Pass installed. I think with the rise in NEH at Worlds the anti-tagging tech will be a lot more key – you should be favoured against those decks with 3 x NFL and Flip Switch (and No One Home helps against net damage too!). The only concern is meat damage: you really don’t have a way to deal with Punitive (other than be rich) or Clearinghouse (good luck).

For the future, I’m not sure really what to add to this list. Maybe some econ that isn’t run based would probably be a good start, but otherwise I’m fairly settled with it.

Huge shout-out to everyone in the East Anglian meta for helping me with some decision making with this list in the run up to Worlds – you are all amazing and wonderful and I couldn’t be prouder of how you all performed at Words this year 😊

I don't care how many Sable's in the top cut were on Hermes, I still think Virtuoso is correct. 💙
