Successful Aginfusion (Undefeated GNK)

Bloel 60

Last night we had our first post-rotation GNK and between 8 players there were 16 different IDs so it’s fair to say that it was a varied meta. I went with Aginfusion because I like playing it and it seems to be pretty unaffected by rotation. It beat an Ayla, Reina and Hammer Party deck for a 3-0 record. So let’s get into it.

Agendas

Its a very standard agenda suite and in a world without Jackson I’ve taken the approach that you can dump your protective 5/3s in archives with some breached domes for a while until you preemptive them back. I play one fast track just to make finding that first Nisei a little easier.

Upgrades/Assets

The Breached Domes help make Archives a daunting prospect and the Batty’s normally function as a way to occasionally end a clutch run but the best case scenario is firing Excalibur’s sub before using either a Nisei token or your ability.

Operations

I went for an operation economy because it’s consistent and Celebrity Gift is easier to fire turn one in a world where you probably don’t have to ice both centrals. Successful Demonstration is probably the spiciest card choice and seems odd but it’s surprising easy to make your opponent have an unsuccessful run in this deck using your ability and you can’t turn down 5 credits given the chance. Geist is doing the rounds at the moment and Scarcity is pretty brutal against most Geist lists (it’s pretty decent against Hammer Party too). The ELP can make running on a scoring remote near impossible for a runner and having a fourth current is good for the consistency of my News Hounds.

ICE

One of things I like about Aginfusion is how ICE is never really a dead draw because you can always use it to fire your ability. So a Vanilla or Enigma that’s a great gear check in the early game can still be used effectively even if you only draw it after they’ve installed their Fracter. DNA Tracker and Chiyashi are your big scary ICE and Chiyashi also doubles up as a bit of AI hate against Aumakua, the only one of those I saw yesterday I happened to snipe with some net damage but if it had been installed the IP Blocks would’ve done some work. Fairchild 2.0 is amazing in a world without Yog and News Hound is just an insanely efficient piece of ICE when you have a current out, I remember seeing Spags play them on stream as a way to counter Employee Strike and even though Strike is a lot less common now I still think its worth the influence. Excalibur has been brilliant in the games where it’s fired but the prevalence of Aumakua at the moment has led me to only run one and I’m happy with that.

Conclusion

I’ve really enjoyed playing around with Aginfusion recently and it’s nice to see it do well at the first point of asking but this deck has a long way to go, I’m pretty flexible on all 17 points of influence and I really want to test out cards like Miraju going forward.
