Ratatosk 71

So this is my take on a fast big-rig shaper deck. Please consider that in Germany the newest available Datapack is Up and Over, such that cards from the last two packs of the Lunar Cycle are not included (yet).

So, let's go through the cards and see, what they are there for.

Diesel: draw power. One of the lesser important cards and potential drop-out for other cards in the future. Indexing: not playing it would be foolish. Legwork: only card that allows multi-accessing HQ. Particularly good in shaper, where agendas tend to accumulate in hand when the corp is not able to fast advance. Levy AR Lab Access: Recursal for stuff. Trade-in: Very important card. Increases consistency tremendously and allows for only one copy of Autoscripter, which is another key card.

Akamatsu Mem Chip: cheap memory, needed due to many programs. Astrolabe: speeding up the rig against NEH and J:PE. In worst case a mem chip with a bonus hand size. Autoscripter: key card of the deck. More details in the "how-to"-section. Clone Chip: usually for Parasites, Deus Exs or Sharpshooters. R&D Interface: nothing special about this solid card.

Same Old Thing: safety for Levy AR Lab Access. Or additional Legwork / Indexing.

Atman: flexibility, usually good at strength 4 (Eli 1.0, Ichi 1.0, Lotus Field) Corroder: still the best fracter available Dagger: not extremely sure about this card, but I feel it's doing fine, as it is supported by Deus Ex and Sharpshooter Refractor: not sure if it's the better choice compared with Gordian Blade. Will need to test. Sharpshooter: for emergencies Cloak: great support card, awesome interaction with Kate+Autoscripter Datasucker: support card for Parasites and Stealth Breakers Keyhole: I love Keyhole in shaper. Creates a huge threat. Leprechaun: replaces Cybersolutions Mem Chip from previous versions. More potential memory plus interaction with Autoscripter. Magnum Opus: THE economic engine of the deck Parasite: most useful for annoying small strength sentries (Komainu, Tsurugi...) Self-modifying Code: must have.

How-to

This deck is all about bringing speed into big-rig shaper. This goal shall be achieved through

a) Great economy through Magnum Opus b) Additional card draw from Astrolabe c) Tutoring / recursal of Self-modifying Code and the like d) Autoscripter (!!!)

As I assume a, b and c are more or less common, let me elaborate more on Autoscripter and its abuse in this deck. As a one-of, you need to tutor it. That's where Trade-In and the multiple copies of Astrolabe or Akamatsu come into play. All of those are three-ofs and therefore it is likely that they are drawn rather early, especially when considering the option to mulligan if missing. So as soon as one of the chips is installed, trade it in for Astrolabe and let the party begin. As soon as Autoscripter hits the table, you can abuse it enormously. Self-modifying codes as well as all the programs with a cost of one can be installed for free and without losing a click. With Magnum Opus on the table this converts into a decrease of two credits installation cost per program. That is huge, especially when taking into consideration the additional ability of Kate. Furthermore Autoscripter helps bringing your hand down to six if you drew a couple of cards from Astrolabe in the Corp's turn and need to get rid of them without discarding.

Other from that, the deck plays a lot like control shaper and Swiss Army Kate. You just speed it up. Still need to find solutions for meat damage though. Against a solid drawing Blue Sun chances are your house collapses too fast...
