Cache Econ Exile

JDalart 194

So since cache has been released there has been a lot of discussion about using it in Shaper. However, comparing cache to the leading form of econ (prepaid voicepad) we can see in Kate this can fall a bit short even if initially it seems better.

For instance, a Sure Gamble with 3 prepaid's installed (the best click value prepaid Kate can provide) is 1 click for 7 creds. The most you will get out of one cache is 1 click for 8 creds (grimoire, scherezade, aesops installed). So you are at a better click per cred value with cache it seems. Well, lets look at the starting values without all value engines installed. Sure Gamble is 1 click for 4 creds and cache is 1 click for 3 creds. Now you can see at its base level the event econ is superior to cache (even dirty laundry equals base cache efficiency while gaining a run). The spread for event econ is 3 creds (the prepaids) as were the spread for cache is 5 creds. You can see that prepaid econ is more robust as it can function pretty well without its value engine as were cache cannot. Now keep in mind this only applies if you cannot find your combo pieces, at which cache becomes better. Lets dig a bit further.

In Kate, 2 of the 3 recursion cards do not benefit from Kate's ability; those being Scavenge and Test Run. So scavenging a cache is the exact same as installing cache from hand, the same is true for test run. Clone chip is the only way to benefit from Kate's ability when recurring cache. So out of the 4 ways to install cache only 2 benefit from Kate's ability. This leads me to Exile.

Out of the 4 ways to install cache 3 of them benefit from exiles ability. Not only that, his ability directly affects the consistency of drawing combo pieces and gaining the max value out of cache. Exile is just simply faster at finding combo pieces than Kate is due to the extra card draw he gets from recursion. So I took this and built upon it with this deck.

This deck has grimoire and scherezade for increased cache economy while also fueling atman, datasucker, parasite. Both parasite recursion and atman rely upon finding the pieces early and consistently so the cache economy fuels that. Also, Atman at 4 is the most efficient way to deal with all of the nasty 4 strength ice around. The rig is simple and effective and hard to lock out due to grimoire. The 2 modded were one of the last includes and make the deck sing. There is a ton of draw and modded lowers the cred entry level of your high cost cards (rnd interface, grimoire, atman, and plascrete). The effective credit entry level for this deck is 1 being cache. This deck is very flexible as all of your econ can be tutored at will or your tutors can be used to destroy their ice. It can also rnd lock very hard due to atman and parasite recursion.

Overall I think this deck is consistent and is a really solid matchup for both RP and NBN; while maintaining a good matchup everywhere else. I've certainly had a ton of fun with it and hope it can perform as well for everyone else! =)

How exactly is Grimoire or Scheherazade fueling Atman?

You got one thing right, that's the advantage that Exile has over Kate.

However Test-Running and Scavenge Cache ... seems a little ... err ... too much of an overkill ... you pay 1 click and 3 money, so u can get 3 money instantly and then to have the ability to draw (1 click) install (1 click) and gain 3 money again? ( considering u don't have Scheherazade installed )

How is that better econ than having MO+ Overdraw + Freelance and Scavange + Test run your Femme Fatale and go anywhere you like?

Also, how exactly you deal with 5 trash cost Marked Accounts or PAD Campaign in NBN? Pretty much the same with Mental Health Clinic in RP?

On first look, I don't see this Cache-econ being strong enough for you to cut him on assets.

@JDalart I feel i agree with Dydra on this i've played alot of exile and this set-up to use all your recurrence on Cashe seems like a huge waste when theirs stuff like parasite that will save you way more than Cashe will ever give you.

I feel their maybe a use for Cashe here however their are times when you end up with the odd dead scavenge in hand and Cashe would be a perfect target as it becomes +3c and a draw for a click this would be a fair use of the card imo or you could use it to get a parasite out for 1c which also seems very useful for Exile.

I think you need to fit an Imp in here somewhere. Maybe cut legwork and the scheherazade?

One copy of Sahasrara combos really well with Scheherazade and Aesop's. Any two of those three cards out boosts Cache a lot.

@Dydra Grimoire doesn't directly fuel atman but it can allow you to set more aggressive atmans. You can scavenge datasucker or install a parasite after a purge to get you back in.

With Scheherazade down scavenging a cache is 4 credits and a card. I usually tutor for this within the first two turns as over a game it will net me 10+ creds. With Grimoire and Scheherazade down, Test run nets me 6 creds and a card for two clicks. This could be a waste though, you have to judge whether or not you need money or recursion tools each turn. But having the flexibility of turning your test runs into econ has been great.

The breaker suite/parasite suite is pretty efficient so I find I do not spend a bunch of money on breaking ice which leaves me money left over to trash assets and such.

I'm not sure if this is better than Dirty Hands Exile, it has less consistent money (cuz mopus) but it can recur parasites and run atman a lot better. It's money is more click efficient too.

@Pinkwarrior Yeah you have to be real careful with your recursion and not to blow it all on econ. Face checking is important to see how much econ you will need and adjust accordingly.

I love that scavenges are never a dead card in this deck. It certainly can recur parasites like no other as well.

@Bamser I wouldn't cut the Scheherazade as it usually nets me 10+ credits a game. Cutting a legwork is an option. You could also probably cut a datasucker probably or a cache for the 1 influence.

@JAK I haven't thought about using Sahasrara but that sounds great. I'll have to slot it in and try it for sure. Thanks for the suggestion!

I actually think making space for some DejaVu might be worth more.

Scavenge is awesome, but it denies you the Aesops credit. Which is really what makes cache sing huge.

I think running both Diesel and Quality time might be a little overkill though. You will be spending a lot of your draw simply drawing more.

But then, my runner decks of late have not been all that amazing.
