Pre-rotation decklist |
This deck is my attempt to make Research Grant work. I've tried a similar deck before Team Sponsorship came out and it wasn't viable. Now, however, all the pieces are in place for an incredible time.
Strategy: The general idea is spam out so many servers that the runner can't handle it. It's similar to a NEARPAD deck in that way. All the assets are low-rez, high-trash, and it puts the runner in a very difficult place. If the runner starts trashing things, you can bring it back with Team Sponsorship. This has been well-documented by others, so I won't go into great lengths about how it works other than to say that it's incredible. Expect to have 15+ remote servers.
ONE IMPORTANT INTERACTION: Team Sponsorship + Research Grant: Both have a "when scored" ability. If you score a Research Grant, you can fire the TS effect first (really!), installing a second RG from HQ or Archives, and then fire the RG ability, scoring other RGs that are installed. Now the second one is being scored! If you happen to have a 3rd RG, you can use the TS after your second score to install the third and score yet ANOTHER point. Or just install more new servers and bank with Turtlebacks. It's incredible.
Another noteworthy inclusion is the new Cybernetics Court. A 0 rez 5 trash asset that increases your hand size is incredible for this deck. If they waste their money trashing it, TS it back! Otherwise hold your RGs in your large hand until you've got at least two so you can voodoo magic them with TS.
Don't be afraid to naked install agendas. They need to steal 4 to win, which gives you a lot of flexibility. If they run everything, install Snares and Psychic Field. If they don't, you're in. I've gotten a kill from keeping a Viktor power counter until they lost the psi game to Psychic Field, losing their whole hand, and then braining them with the counter.
An important feature in the deck is the economy. There is Adonis and PAD Campaign, but you'll notice no Hedge Fund. Instead, gobs of money are made by creating new server after new server (which each individually get you money) to fuel the Turtlebacks rampage. One of my favorite plays is Shipment from Mirrormorph-ing 3 assets, which gains you the creds for ETF install, for Turtlebacks, and future recurring credits for their ability.
You'll notice there are only 10 ICE in the deck. This ice is generally used to protect centrals, though it also works for creating new remotes or actually protecting an agenda. Though you can just as easily bluff a Snare behind ice brought back with TS.
Enjoy! It's an incredibly fun deck to play.

This looks awesome. Ice is pretty expensive though. How's your experience with that so far? Maybe your making tons of money with Turtlebacks? |
This is the first time you make me feel like a father for you, Scotty. Im proud.
