I want to try out temporar's deck and thus I remade it using cards that are already printed.
The idea is the same, one wicked server: Watanabe - Cell Portal - Shadow - Shadow - Whirlpool
The problem is that this version, unlike the original, creates an infinite loop and that's something the rules are not clear about. I know that the corp is responsible for that and needs to end it, but what exactly does it yield? (∞-1) credits and the same number of tags for runner? (provided they have less than 2 link)
Could somebody kindly explain this?

Oh if your opponent says something like " if you loop 10 times, I will break shadow 5 times" or something, just kindly remind him that this is an infinite loop and if that he is willing to spend money on breaking things, you will most gladly drain him from all of his money and still get the number of tags that u want ;) |

I agree that this deck is far from perfection, but I don't think that Scorched Earth is what it needs. I think trap that gives you billion credits for the cost of 5 to rez it is still good enough, even if you don't leverage the billion tags. If you want to kill, just put Neural Katana in the mix. The weakest point comes when runner installs a decoder. I am considering which program trashing tool would be the best option. I guess Power Shutdown? I will also try it with Levy University and Celebrity Gift to find out if it would work without the surprise factor. |

Infinity loops were covered in the netrunner faq from ffg. What Dydra said is the ruling, it's the responsibility of the person triggering it to set an end point. I played a deck like this and I found the same thing, people just break your shadow and cell portal so you really can't depend on it happening. Or you get siphoned and don't have enough to rez it, so the super server components became fewer and fewer, and then got removed entirely. Levy is slow, but does work ok if you really want a certain piece of ice, I think it may have better synergy with midori than caprice though since with midori the runner doesn't know where the new ice will end up. I don't think power shutdown will help with decoders in this case because all decoders are really expensive, yog 5, gordian 4, torch 9, which only leaves aggressive secretary or destroyer ice if you want to trash one of them. If you do get the super server approach to work let me know though, I love the idea of it :) |
You can't create infinite loops. I think the most sportsmanship thing to do, is just to say " I do the loop 10 times" ( or at an amount of money/tags in your case that you feel comfortable with).
Here are a few things imho to account for though (looking at your deck) 1) You will tag him beyond infinity for what? I was expecting to see 3xScorched Earths in this deck ( or at least 2) for creating an infinite tag loop ... or maybe a Psychographics (on a ronnin or agenda) ... you count on scored PSF, which u will have to spend your entire turns to deny them the cards and they can drawback to a full hand in 4-5 turns when they could run. 2) Also if they have Gordian/Torch they can break the Cell Portal and just end the run in the server (by accessing the cards in the server obv). After that the Whirlpool is trashed and there is nothing stopping them from jacking out at any point in this server :)
Interesting idea, but the deck still needs a lot of work imho.
