DIVE! - 5th at B-COM

DIVE!

I wanted to play booster cards at B-COM along with the exclusive Bravado alt. I previously tested a Startup Ken "Express" Tenma: Disappeared Clone with Swift and Deep Dive; the deck felt decent but thought it would be better in Steve.

Essentially this is a "good stuff" crim deck that can end games swiftly with Deep Dive.

Tournament report

The deck went 3-2 in Swiss and 1-0 in the top cut.

In swiss it defeated ReinaMorada's outfit where Paperclip got hit by Ark Lockdown, mildesorte's Sportsmetal where I had great hq accesses and Paperclip got hit by Ark Lockdown again and MotionBlur's Palana; and lost to Wiserunner's Reality+ and 114141 on the World's winning PD.

In the top cut I knocked out Cpt_nice on their sentryless Reality+.

What works well

You mostly play good crim cards so you can do wild things with influence.

  • Aumakua is still amazing especially when you lose Paperclip.
  • Overclock is decent but I think Swift is what makes it viable in this deck.
  • Deep Dive is so much fun! You really want to use it to close games here. Essentially you control the game flow which current crim does well and use this at the end. This replaces The Turning Wheel with certain tradeoffs. TTW needs to be found early enough but represents permanent pressure while Deep Dive is vulnerable to damage but is less draw order dependent.

What doesn't work so well

  • Money is tight. The deck needs a bit more econ. It also means that several times in the tournament I couldn't play Legwork. Daily Casts is a good card, I should play more copies.
  • There is not enough card draw.
  • Amina is 7 credits which is a big number. The vast majority of played code gates are cheap to rez so it feels overkill.
  • Revolver is good but corps do not play enough sentries in this meta for it to be worth a card slot.

Changes I want to try

-1 Legwork, -1 Revolver, -1 Amina, -2 Rezeki

+2 Jailbreak, +1 Daily Casts, +1 Sneakdoor Beta (or Docklands Pass), +1 Unity

B-COM was amazing

Thanks to psk, percomis, Vesper and everyone else who organised and/or attended. I got reminded how fun in person tournaments are and now crave for more.
