Kate - Core + One Deluxe Set Tournament V1.1 - Advice please

Cyrax 4

Hello All

I'm going to a Core Set and one deluxe set only tournament. The idea is you have to make your Corp and Runner decks form just these two sets (although you are allow to use three core sets). I'm trying to work out if I want to run Kate + Core HB fast advance or Noise and something Weyland (either bad and tag or fast advance).

Not having a lot of "main" cards makes things very tough. I decided to try an Atman Parasite deck with as much recursion as possible, so Clone Chips and Scavenge so I can remove the Atman and bring them back at different strengths if needed. I also have Femme to get me out of a whole if I need it.

I think I have economy down with Daily Casts, Dirty Laundry and Sure Gamble + Desperado for running credits. Stimhack for a nice lot of burst economy for that must do run.

But without plascrete is this a waste of time? Would I be better with Noise and I Have Had Worse for some protection?

Thanks for any advice

Ben

This deck looks kinda what I used to play when I started... funny

I see you found the Lucky Find from Double Time :)

I think C&C is a good choice for all the good economy events, HB is solid and Shaper should be really consistent. Also, most of the "main" cards for this are in the Core set and C&C.

Regarding this deck, I would add Professional Contacts for draw/money and maybe a standard breaker-suite of Corroder, Mimic and Gordian Blade as 1-offs, since you have Datasucker. You could drop Infiltration, one Parasite and/or one Stimhack? Also, chances are you won't need the Levy, maybe a thid Scavenge or 1-2 Test Run?

If you are really worried about tag'n'bag, there is always Decoy....should at least help with SEA Source.

Otherwise Anarch and I've Had Worse/Eater might be ok, but probably inconsistent compared to Shaper. Some version off Account Siphon recursion could be possible?

Anyways, have fun and good luck at the tourney.

None of your events seem very same-old-thingable. There's maker's eye, but three seems like plenty. If Weyland is your worry, you could always swap out some of your more marginal cards for Armitage Codebusting and the like. Lots of money is as valid a scorch defense as Plascrete.

Katman seems like a solid call seeing as there's no AI hate in the deluxe boxes. I might be tempted to try to find influence for the third desperado - consistency is big and clever.

If you're out of ideas for econ. You could always squeeze in a couple Modded and Magnum Opus.

I reckon it would help a bit seeing as Desperado and your icebreakers all cost =/> 3 credits which would make a great deal if you drew both in your opening hand. And makes a card like Magnum cost the same as a click's worth of credits from it :)
