My take on tempo R+ in Startup. I'm a relatively new player that came from R+ in SG/SU, where I was happy to get little goodies per tag but didn't really have the tools to keep the runner out once they set up. Entering Startup, that tempo gain becomes the beating heart of a Kingmaking Holo Man pilot program. The Ice suite makes it super unappealing for pesky Runners to check centrals or remotes as you tempo forward with tags, Spin Doctors, and Planograms. Once Threat 3 is reached (easily with Kingmaking), Oppo is online, dissuading further runs as they dig themselves free from tags. Once they go Tag-Me (and they always do), score out or turn them into a crater.
The Holo Man is the real W card, letting you basically never advance any agenda and keeping the Runner guessing. Your Digital Life YDL + Hub means you'll often be richer than a tagged / Oppo'd hacker, fueling the holo shenanigans :)
B-1001 was a relatively late addition - Try having two remotes that are equally annoying for the Runner and keep them guessing with Snares and upgrades.
Theorycrafting notes :) - 05/08/24 - Lost against Jlai's Startup Mercury. Seemed alright, got tags off. Econ was a bit light. Needed to consider Threat 4 for Starlit Knight - Consider Your Digital Life - Is Public Trail still good in a format that has Oppo Research? - What about agenda package? Alt package could be 3x Kingmaking, 3x Oracle Thinktank, 2x Send a Message, 3x Superconducting Hub (11 Agendas, 18 points) - Piranhas? Retribution? - Need to spend influence. Mindscaping? Pivot? Retribution? Sprint? Greasing the Palm? - 05/31/24 - Want to try elements from the Piranhas list, including 3x Piranhas, cutting Capacitor and Tollbooth, adding one more Ping.
