Theory of Simplicity v2.0

Updated 3.0 Version Available

Sim·plic·i·ty: noun. the quality or condition of being easy to understand or do

AKA Build a big ol' cussing rig and score the points.

A couple Multithreader and a Toolbox installed and running is damn near free.

RP gets their Buttcheeks smacked and Employee Strike keeps those buns toasty.

Build the things, run the places, score the wins!.

Edit: swapped The Makers Eye for R&D's.. This was an oversight and works much smoother. Thanks everyone!

This looks really fun, thanks for posting! How do you feel about 2 r&d interface instead of maker's eye? There's a bit more potential synergy with workshop and modded.

Another possible change: How about Study Guide instead of Gordian? You should have more than enough credits to pump it with Multithreader out (especially if you don't run for a turn) and it would be more efficient in the long run.

@WhitePawn Either works. I personally enjoy a surprise Maker's .. but R&D Interface's. can totally work.

@Bifurcator I like Study Guide, Though, gets online a bit quicker for my taste in this already slowish deck. Worth a try though. Thanks for the suggestions!

I am a big fan of this deck but I am concerned with The Toolbox cost have you considered cutting the parasites and just using spinal modem to speed the deck up?

12 Aug 2015 Feisty

@CodeMarvelous Spinal Modem is a fine idea. So far I've had more utility from Parasite then saving 5 credits on my console. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll try a few games with it to see how it feels.

@CodeMarvelous Maybe -2 Parasite, +2 Stimhack? That leaves 2 influence though, and I'm not sure what else I would cut to use it. Maybe -1 Modded, +1 Legwork?

Simple, functional, and fun. Thanks for the post. I tossed the Legwork for an HQ Interface.

I was just thinking about making a chaos theory multithreader deck. One card to consider might be DaVinci. It will leverage multithreader and stimhack credits and might make installing the toolbox a bit easier to swallow. I also think swapping out earthrise hotel for diesel will speed up your set up. Maybe swap in symmetrical visage as well. Overall, great deck, I am curious how play testing will go.

RDI much better than TME, especially if you're running PW

I would try to fit in Same Old Things just to get more use out of that single Legwork. They would also help by recurring your current. Speaking of which, I would think Net Celeb would fit right into this deck for no influence. One copy of Strike would still be good against some corps. Maybe cut a Strike for Celeb, then spend the extra influence on a Stimhack. Also, I see zero reason to run three Opus when two of them can be Test Runs instead. And Opus kinda makes Sure Gamble bad, so could cut those to make room for 2 Same Olds and the third Test Run. And like others have said, Study Guides and RDIs. Except I'd throw in a Woman in the Red Dress as well.

So in summation, -1 Employee Strike, -2 Opus, -3 Sure Gamble, -1 Gordian, -2 Maker's Eye, +1 Stimhack, +3 Test Run, +2 Same Old Thing, +1 Study Guide, +1 RDI, +1 Woman.

@Horse85 @moistloaf I've swapped Maker's and Legwork for their Hardware equivalents in the past. Haven't decided which I like better.

14 Aug 2015 Horse85

I don't really see Legwork/TME and HQI/RDI as equivalents. The big difference is that the events have surprise value, and the hardware don't. I'm not a fan of HQI simply because the corp has a decent amount of control over what's in HQ. So when the runner plays HQI, the corp knows he's gonna have to put more ice on HQ, be more conscious of his hand, start dumping things for Jackson, etc. And maybe that has value as well, but I prefer to have the surprise factor of hitting them with Legwork when they haven't played an agenda in a while.

R&D is a whole different beast. You really want to be constantly hitting it as often as you can (depending on how your econ's doing) until they clearly play an agenda. I mean at the very least you're getting to see their draws even if you never find an agenda. RDI gets much more value out of those repeated runs than TME, and surprise factor isn't incredibly valuable on a server where the corp has so little control over what you access.

@Horse85 I only meant "equivalent" in that they both access from the same place. I agree that RDI is a better option here. Been playing with it and it has much better synergy.

Thanks!
