Aniccam Leela - August GLC Modded Tourney (4-0)

bowlsley 660

[Modded is (currently) System Core 19 + the Ashes cycle only]

Another month, another Modded deck. This time I decided to go for an archetype that is a little more suited to Standard than this format, where glacier corps are nearly the only game in town, but such is the strength of runners here that it still performed exceptionally well for me. Leela is an ID that already emphasises a more laid-back approach to running, and the event-based deck (and limited econ) further builds on that. Sit back, build up your rig, your money, and your hand, and then strike when you feel you have the best opportunity to.

This deck should have played five games but in one of the rounds I accidentally switched to an Az deck without realising (there are no ID/deck restrictions in this tournament, luckily), so four wins it is! A few quick notes on specific cards:

The Class Act - It's such a good card, isn't it? Much like ProCo you want to see it as early as possible, though unlike the latter you need to be a bit more cautious about when to install it, as it doesn't repay that hefty 4 credit install cost. Once it's down though, you should be drawing at least once a turn, and once Aniccam is installed, your first draw is free! If you have a Career Fair spare, don't be afraid to use it to install a second copy of this over the first - the free initial draw of four cards is well worth it.

Bravado - Be selective where you run with these. A large majority of the time Leela's ability is best used to bounce HQ ICE, so you want to keep those unrezzed for as long as possible. If you do run on HQ, find your Emergency Shutdowns to help make it possible to get back in easily.

Prognostic Q-Loop - This is a superb late-game card. The less cards you have in the stack, the more chance you have of the top card being a Boomerang, and the ability to waltz past tricky ICE gets easier and easier. I once even used it to spring a surprise HQI on my opponent just before accessing, but that was a bit of a one-off.

"Baklan" Bochkin - Not entirely sure I used this at any point? Seems like a great idea in my head though.

HQ Interface - Expensive. Don't ever install more than one, and only if you're at the stage of the game where you need to pressure HQ fairly constantly. Rely on judicious use of your Legworks until absolutely necessary.

Once again, thanks to Dirjel and the lovely people of the GLC Discord for another fun tournament!
