Tilting at Windfalls

MarbleMunkey 422

So, I built a deck around Windfall, and it worked better than I anticipated; This will never be tier 1, but it was amusing to run. Spending 29 dropping Monolith, Torch, Femme Fatale, and Battering Ram was hot, and the resulting 8 meant never having to say no to an install. Once my rig was out, Monolith let me trash all those expensive programs I wasn't going to install to keep me safe from Chronos Protocol shenanigans.

Tweaks I'm looking at: -1 Earthrise Hotel, -1 Morning Star, -1 Professional Contacts, +1 Plascrete Carapace, +2 Mr. Li.

I had luck with this type of deck by adding 2-3 the toolbox as well, increasing the odds of windfalling something big, and yes thats 6 consoles :P

With such expensive programs why not slotting some retrieval runs and same old things?

Yeah, I'm not sure why the Liberated Accounts given the reliance on Windfall. Use that influence to get some stuff out of the heap, like Retrieval Runs? The only recursion right now is Levy -- why not even a Clone Chip or two? Getting a Torch or a Femme for a net loss of basically 1 credit and 2 clicks (install the CC, Windfall) ain't too bad.

@sruman I had not really considered Retrieval Run; I focused on increasing the odds of Windfall hitting something big, and hitting an event or a 0-cost resource (like Same Old Thing) results in a complete whiff on Windfall. The cost saving of a Retrieval Run could be worth the risk, though.

@scd The benefit of Liberated Account is that it's normal econ if I draw it, but even if I hit it with a Windfall, it's still 6 .

This is my first draft for this deck, and as I said it was put together for fun and to see how far I could tweak Windfall. My next draft I'm considering using Mr. Li to filter some of those cheaper support cards out before Windfalling; We'll see how it goes.
