The Theory of Everything - 2nd place GNK Hanoi, VN

kyokorebit 108

Our meta is filled with IG decks. I've been a Shaper at heart, and no matter how many techs I slotted into my Hayley to deal with IG, it came out short. 4 days before the tournament and I found myself almost abandoning Shaper and jumping to Whizzard.

I usually relied on Magnum Opus + Feedback Filter for damage decks, but it was not an answer for IG because vs 3 Bio-ethics even if you click for 8 each turn you would need 9 to prevent 3 damage. Rachel Beckman would help, but if IG setups faster than you then you will never have chance to bring her out. Also Snares.

Then something dawned on me. SUPER OPUS + Feedback. The jank from the past. With that combo you net 3 credits after preventing dmg, giving you an inevitable win against them IG decks who refuse to score.

I didn't drop a single IG game in the tournament.

Play tips:

  • Watch out for Elizabeth Mills trashing your Workshop. IG runs Mills to deal with Slums, and since you run no recursion just get your breakers out as soon as possible.

  • Starting hand should have some sorts of money like Gamble or Dirty Laundry to smooth out your money flow before you setup your SUPER OPUS.

  • Against Gagarin it depends, if they follow the damage path then deal with it like vs IG. Shrike is for this matchup. Also once you get your NACH out host all agendas you access on Film Critics to prevent Sea Source. Against other forms of Gagarin watch out for Mills and Salem Hospitality. Shrike those Tour Guides ftw.

  • Against yellow decks it all depends on how fast you setup RDI and have Film Critics + NACH. I dropped 1 game against NEH in the tournament and won 1 against SYNC (NACH did all the work).

Prolly will do a tournament writeup later. 5 round swiss, won against 3 IG and 1 SYNC, lost against NEH. Top cut won against IG.

After the tournament I think prolly -1 I've Had Worse -1 Astrolabe -1 Inti -1 Battering Ram +1 Corroder +1 Same Old Thing +1 Test Run +1 SMC

Looks really nice. What do you think about swapping IHW for Jak Sinclair?

Since you can't Snitch when Jak Sinclair, it's only good when your opponent leaves an undefended server. I feel my matchup against most horizontal decks is good enough. Also IHW saved my bacon a couple times when I was being reckless.

@kyokorebit I find Employee Strike works well for IG just slap it down and trash it all. Works well at screwing with other ID's also so it's not a dead card against other ID's either.

@Pinkwarrior You don't need to trash anything against IG with this deck. Just setup your econ, find breakers and come to RnD once in a while.

@kyokorebit Yeah I get that, am not saying this doesn't work or is wrong just saying that's another good solution I find.

What is super opus? I'm confused.

@apri the super opus is the Au Revoir / Snitch combo that comes from this deck:
