Whizzards Wyldcakes

HepatitvsJ 244

I took this deck to a tournament saturday and went 2-1 (I dropped since I had a date to go to, so I didn't play the 4th game) My Corp deck went 2-1 also with my only loss being due to agenda/Asset flood. Despite 20 ICE, I drew very little so I couldn't effectively protect my centrals AND a remote against a similar Whizzard build who shredded every asset I dropped. I plan to add DBS in to mitigate this in the future.

Some things to keep in mind as you read this, 1: I literally haven't touched the cards in 6 months other than to toss in the new data packs. 2: I'm really bad at running against Jinteki in general even though RP is probably the least damaging ID. 3: I really hate Caprice. lol

Ok, So I've been dying to make a decent Whizzard deck forever and I saw this list form Spags and the release of Net Ready Eyes (NRE) has been a godsend to Anarch! It lets Yog shred Merlin, Lotus Field, and several other 4 Str ICE while making the occasional 5 str much more manageable and doing the same for Mimic and NEXT gold/cortex lock/info overload/ICHI 1.0/etc and the, more common, 5 str entry ICE.

I decided to go with Wyldcakes (adjusted chronotype/Wyldside) over EH/Visage because I had 3 promos I've never gotten to play with. I was concerned about the loss of a click if i couldn't draw the chronotype but it was only a problem in the first game against an RP with ELP, and the fact it was my literal first game with the deck. It was my only loss and the next 2 games this deck shredded the opponent and won with massive double medium digs. I never got to win by "showing off' but only because I didn't have the money for either of the NAPD contracts I accessed off the bottom. In all 3 games I pulled at least one 3 pointer (Future perfect/ future perfect, executive retreat, future perfect. I lost the psi game for the first FP but won the second one in the first game and won the psi game the third game) to put me at match point. So Showing off is now a permanent addition to this deck for that reason alone.

There were several times I was digging for a breaker that lost me my tempo, so I think Wyldcakes is solid as a draw engine but Atman was worthless to me every game. It just wasn't efficient for what I needed. I found myself wishing I had an SMC instead every time I drew it and I'll likely switch it out for one. D4v!D takes care of any 5 str ICE so I don't see a real necessity for atman and I was often in need of a datasucker to pressure the corp if not the breaker itself. In addition, money isn't really an issue with this deck, I was flush every game, so I might switch out the career fair for a special order to make sure I have breakers when I need them. It's nice to drop a free Wyldside/AC/DC/or 3 cost LA so I might playtest it for now with just the SMC.

The deck is 47 cards but the draw power of Wyldcakes was sufficient to overcome the extra 2 cards. The addition of memstrips and showing off was simply incredible since I was thrilled to see either card every game and the Showing off got me to match point every game and winning me the third sooner if I had been able to afford the 4c for either NAPD contract.

Whether you go with EH/Visage or Wyldcakes for your draw engine this deck is phenomenal in the current meta imo. NRE lets mimic/Yog break anything 4str or less and D4v!D eats anything higher. This range is going to be meta dominant for a while I think.

Thanks for reading. J
