Love Triangle on a Bench (NAPD) - Tenma with Oracle May

Elstyr 366

Many new cards came our way since I first played with this deck during summer 2014. Sadly, less new "useful" events than I hoped for. But anyway, this is the updated version up to Data and Destiny.

The main concept didn't change obviously: install Oracle May as soon as possible and draw a card saying "event" every turn. The tutors make sure that I can get the few non-event cards out of the deck before accidentally trashing them. Test Run even allows me to bring the programs back from my heap (it combos very well with May as after using it I exactly now which card will be on top on my deck next turn).

Faust is the main breaker of the deck. Fisk Investment Seminar, Quality Time and Drug Dealer provide the needed draw. Levy AR Lab Access reboots the deck to continue feeding Faust. The many tutor cards, that I don't need after Levying are welcome food for it. The deck also has 48 cards to ensure the ability to feed Faust constantly enough without sacrificing too many key cards. Crypsis is there to break the smaller ice. Femme Fatale takes care of Swordsman, etc. Biggest weakness is Wraparound, but well... There is always something. Inside Job and Emergency Shutdown are some weakish answers to that. This rig is the best I could come up with for only three cards and 2 influence. So far it worked pretty well .

Using Faust doesn't need much money (but this deck makes a lot of it), so Theophilius Bagbiter is even more useful than before (not only a protection against kills).

The main strength of the deck remains its simplicity (even more than before as you don't need to correctly chose your first breaker). It's biggest weakness remains the low multi-access on RnD with only one The Maker's Eye.

I still love to play it.

Would love to hear what you think.

Cheers,

Elstyr

I run a very similar deck. Adding Breach should go a long way to dealing with wraparounds. Why Test Run over Retrieval Run? It's 1 less influence and can get Femme Fatale and Crypsis out cheaply.

Hey, yes, one idea was to replace Crypsis with Breach or simply add a Spike to turn wraparound to strength 0. I did try Retrieval Run but I found I prefer Test Run for several reasons:

  • it serves as a tutor in addition to program recursion
  • it combos with Oracle May
  • closing off archives is a standard play against criminals in my meta

The one big advantage over Test Run is that you can tutor Retrieval Run with Planned Assault. One of each may be a good solution. The one point of influence could than go into a thrid Quality Time or a stimhack.

Good job, have also done an update on my Oracle hardware deck that was inspired by date on a bench... ;-)
