It's good to be back 💚
Fell in love with Outfit last year. However, haven't picked up the identity much since.
I've been wanting to explore the idea of a minimum sized corp deck for a while, and actually have it feel correct.
While I think Dial EA for Murder is the best example of a correct minimum sized corp deck I've seen, I've come away with the following thoughts over my course of the thought experiment/challenge:
- I believe it's worth considering under the following conditions:
This list matches all those categories wanting to have Rashida, Atlas, and Basalt ASAP, jamming them usually with the first 2x ICE you find.
- There are a decent number of times that your opponent will not have the ability to get through your cheap yet difficult to break Outfit ice that quickly. Many times, you can simply manually advance your Atlas with counters and/or your Basalt if Seamless wasn't drawn.
This list was initially lightly inspired by:
- EA Sports Sends Their Regards (2nd Mar AMT)
I realized that Basalt, and Atlas are really good with Seamless, but felt Nuvem was a bit awkward and didn't have ice to rush things out as quickly, so switched over to building out of Outfit.
1x Reg Cap?!
- I initially was playing 0x, and a Slash and Burn instead, as I found myself winning on low numbers of BP. However, realized there were enough unfortunate edge cases where having a Reg Cap is nice.
- Also, with expecting to get an Atlas counter you don't really need more than the 1x.
- It's unfortunate when someone steals it, but not something you are reliant on, and just clog in your hand early otherwise. Since this deck doesn't invest much in centrals protection, particularly HQ, it can easily get sniped there.
The list I was testing before NZ Nats included a Big Deal, which I think should go back in. While many games you don't need it, it allows you to get out of situations where you aren't able to push through your Basalt early enough
I think I would personally make the following adjustments:
You could also consider cutting Pivot, and/or 1x NGO Front for Government Subsidies to help with Big Deal money, but I think the deck should be rich enough to support that line if required to play to it.
