Nicey Division

Brendan2026 118

Updated my experimentation with Nisei Division. This deck has basically been flatlining every single runner on OCTGN. Results very good. Strategy is to set up a taxing remote, and continuously install assets and agendas behind it, or bare, out in the open. Lots of punishment in this deck, which can paralyze a runner. Play fast and loose. Possibly tournament viable due to unexpected nature of deck. One of the most fun decks I've ever played--I love it.

You'll be surprised how many foolhardy Criminals you'll murder or drain their bank accounts just because they don't remove tags after a Siphon. Account Siphon is one of this deck's best friends.

VULNERABLE TO: Losing the Psi game lol

I see some good plays in this build, but it almost feels like narrow combos were selected to provide room for secret cost cards. I like Scorched Earth and Closed Accounts with Cerebral Cast, but I want to see some recurring tagging rather than just the Runner choice presented by Cerebral Cast.

Snowflake is a decent Phase 1 barrier that ups it's value in combination with Nisei Division: The Next Generation, but it's value doesn't last very far past Phase 1 due to it's low strength. There's an Inazuma that could be used to back it up, but there are better targets for an Inazuma in your build. Do we really need a full suite of Snowflakes considering it's short life, or would one of those card slots be better invested in another Inazuma or some recurring tag generation?

Edge of World does not strike me as very innovative as your trap of choice here. With only 14 ICE in a 49 card deck, you're looking at a 29% draw rate. With only 1 out of 3-4 draws being ICE, the Edge of World threatens flatline by itself in Phase 3 only. While any kind of brain damage makes it easier for other damaging cards to flatline, Edge of World suffers from the inability to disguise itself with advancement counters which gives it a very short life on the board. Some of the other traps feel like they'd provide more options here, or even switching to a Ronin to support your Neural EMPs. If Mushin No Shin were employed, then you could use that to hide Edge of World as well.

Since you're playing with Philotic Entanglement, then it feels lax that the Shi.Kyū synergy has been left out of here.

I'm concerned by how click dependant your economy is. The economy is mitigated a bit by the inherent economy in Nisei Division: The Next Generation, but I've yet to see a game where Nisei Division: The Next Generation contributed more than a small trickle past the cost of the secret spending cards. I'd like to see some Jinteki specific economy Operations in a deck like this, such as Medical Research Fundraiser or Celebrity Gift instead of a full suite of Melange Mining Corp..

Thanks for your comments:

re: Para 1: Many times a runner will end his turn with low credits, setting up good opportunities for Cerebral Cast. The 3x Snare! also tags more often that you might expect. I've found as well that runners are just tagging themselves like mad these days, what with the prevalence of Account Siphon.

re: Para 2: Snowflake is amazing. Costs 1 to rez (usually 0 since I'll bid 0 no matter what on the initial psi game) and 2 to break for Corroder. It's a nice tax, it's cheap for me, and it stops early runs. Great in front of an early Melange.

Re: Para 3: Snare! and Psychic Field are the main potent traps. Edge of World is there to help heap on the brain damage (making tags a consideration when the runner loses the Cerebral Casts game). If runner trashes it out of R&D or HQ, it helps put the fear into him whenever I drop something behind an iced remote. This deck is a "never advance" more or less, so anything installed facedown could be an agenda. Ronin is a possibility, but it needs to be advanced, which usually goes against the game plan. Though it's a good thing to consider.

re: Para 4: Philotic is just good. It's a 3/2 that has a small chance of setting up a flatline. Shi.Kyu doesn't really help me kill the runner--though I do like the card.

re: Para 5: clicking for creds is reasonable. I usually need to be at about 5-10 credits only. There really isn't room for more econ in this deck. Getting a Melange up on top of Caprice in the early game can sometimes provide all the econ I need for the whole game.

@Brendan2026 Those are some fair assessments and answers. The only item that I want to extend is that Shi.Kyū does count as an Agenda for Philotic Entanglement when forced onto the Runner as a negative Agenda Point.
