Palana Pepperoni 6-0 GNKs

Siegl 682

This deck has gone undefeated in two GNKs beating a diverse field of runners: Kit, Omar, Leela, Smoke, Ayla and Edward Kim.

I hadn't actually seen Saans Red Deadcoats before building this deck, but I guess Obokata+Punitive is a fairly obvious synergy. While the decks are quite similar, there are some big differences. The most important change is the defensive upgrades, which shifts the focus from an economic tax/check to a card tax/check. Punitive is still there, so runners still have to be rich but also have to dedicate more time drawing cards.

Some specific card choices:

Hades Fragment - recursion is always nice, especially with maw being popular. Getting back econ, defensive upgrades, ice or MCA can help out a lot.

Ben Musashi + Prisec - Makes it a lot harder for runners to steal the agenda and makes a follow up punitive easier, only needing one most of the time.

Bryan Stinson - First of all he helps with the Consulting Visit influence. Secondly he can decimate the econ war if he gets to trigger for even one turn. It's not very consistent, but so impactful when it happens.

Archived Memories - Punitive, AM, Punitive makes flatline easier. Gets back MCA for a second Film Critic (or things like Beth, Baghat if you're not expecting FC). A flexible card that helps out in a lot of situations.

Chiyashi - Expensive as hell, but having the ETR can prove useful compared to a third DNA Tracker. It's still very punishing to facecheck and expensive to break. Better synergy with Batty as well, both the 2 damage and the ETR.

Kakugo - Plays into the more card taxing theme of this deck. Gets annoying to deal with on centrals for aggressive runners or stacked in the remote for more passive runners.

Combined this gives me a few more avenues towards the win as well as keeping things a bit more spicy, hence the name ;)

Nice to see someone else running MCA Informant and Consulting Visit instead of the vastly worse Voter Intimidation that I see in most Obakata Punitive decks. It's awesome how close our two decks ended up being to one another, and it's funny that my deck has started to look a lot more like yours the more I modify it. Here's where I am at with it now. I completely agree with you on the Stinson; it's a killer card for the deck. I only miss Ash sometimes, but mostly Ben's a fine replacement.

I dig it! Keep the Palana murder dream alive =D

Thanks! Going up to two Bryan Stinson by changing Archived Memories to a second Preemptive Action looks like a nice move, will try it out.

Getting rid of Crick seems good too, really not enough stuff to get back with it. How well does Aiki work? Seems risky to potentially give free draws, but if you can play around that it's a really efficient ice.

Utopia Fragment vs Hades Fragment is quite interesting. Utopia is basically a one time 4c tax, which isn't a whole lot but can be crucial for a follow up punitive. Hades can help against edward kim, maw and the like, which I've felt is one of the tougher matchups at least if you can't sure up your defenses early.
