How Much Did You Want That Bad Publicity, Anyway?

Basic idea is to get Surveillance Sweep and Broadcast Square out, then make the runner decide how much beyond a trace 3 they want to pay in order to get the Bad Publicity from all your Illicit ice. Resistor, Wraparound, Viper, and News Hound do the actual ending of runs, while Shinobi, Assassin, and Checkpoint do various damage and Archangel makes their choices unpleasant.

I think the Marked Accounts could probably be PAD Campaigns - the extra credit to trash isn't as important, I think, and it's annoying to have to keep investing clicks in the MA. Just remember to rez Reality ThreeDee during a run, so the Broadcast Square triggers!

Given that Reality Threedee and Resistor depend on tags, which runners tend to clear ASAP, and only Breaking News and News Hound give tags, perhaps find room for Midseason Replacements. Apart from that, looks like a fun deck to pilot. I'll have to try it.

I had a similar deck idea around Broadcast Square but it was more horizontal with Primary Transmission Dish to boost the trace into absurd levels (plus some Encryption Protocol shenanigans to make those dishes a pain to trash.) Seemed too clunky so I didn't sleeve it; your approach of using Sol and Surveillance Sweep looks better.

Some more reliable way of landing tags would be nice though.

@enk: Normally I would agree with you about adding in some more aggressive tagging options, but this deck doesn't really seem to depend on landing tags. It's great if it happens, but it really only means more Reality Threedee money and slightly more taxing Resistors.

@tzeentchling: Rezzing Reality Threedee during a run with Broadcast Square and Surveillance Sweep in play... that is just cruel and brilliant.

Love the deck design.

My suggestion would be to exchange the Grim x 2 for Muckraker x 2 and then the Breaking News x 2 for Quantum Predictive Model

Breaking News is generally best for murder, which this deck is not trying to accomplish. Obviously you can score it from hand, but you may be able to do that with QPM, if you have an astro scored. Plus the runner may score it for you :-) The muckraker will be a big boost for your Resistors and Reality Threedee.

If more reliable tags were wanted ChiLo City Grid is a fun fit, but I agree that they're not that important to the strategy and it would probably get a bit clunky. I have always wanted to pair it with Muckraker and Broadcast Square though, because evil, so will plug it at every opportunity.

Thanks for the comments everyone! Muckracker is definitely something I have always been curious about, but if the Runner goes tag-me it only really taxes 1 credit, and at 5 rez cost I'm much less comfortable with that. Including QPM might be a way to help that.

@lightburied I don't think the deck really needs Midseason - giving them lots of tags only to make my ice stronger or have better drip doesn't really help. As @FarCryFromHuman said, it's nice if it happens, but I don't need it to.

The Breaking News is definitely a flex slot. I like the ability to have a 2/1, and sometimes the runner has a resource you just have to kill. I've even toyed with the idea of Improved Tracers, since it helps most of the ice in the deck, but it feels like a win-more card.

@tzeentchling If the runner goes 'tag me', one word: Psychographics

Can I strongly recomend Rutherford grid. Not only does it work with the majority of your ice, but it boosts broadcast square as well, even on threedee rezzes during a run.

@checkthebox you're not wrong, but that starts pushing the deck into a different style, one that really wants the runner to be tagged. It's probably not best in Sol at that point. That said, a card like Closed Accounts might be better punishment in this deck.

@whirrun Rutherford Grid is definitely a good card for a trace-heavy deck like this! But what do you take out to include it? Deck space is somewhat tight as-is, and I can't afford too many cards that don't give me money or help me score agendas (and most ice traces will be broken, not paid). Part of the reason I like the Surveillance Sweep-Broadcast Square combo is because the runner has to do the trace, and can't avoid it by breaking a subroutine or something similar.

Another thought is to replace Resistor with TMI. It's relatively taxing, and with surveillance sweep, it's much more likely to fire.

If the runner goes tag me you should have some copies Keegan Lane to deal with that. Psychographics also does work.

Why not NEH/Sync? I realize that none of these identities nets you much, but at the very least NEH gives you 2 more influence to toy with, and that seems about as useful given you're running Sol with just one current.
