Reviews

Bumi 1.0 is probably the best sentry in the game, in regard to its effect related to cost, strength and influence cost.

With a rez cost of 3, the corp will usually rez it, but contrary to Drafter, there is a tactical decision to be made.

First, in the early game, if the runner has no programs installed, it cost only 1 to pass, which is a totally reasonable cost.

Second, the corp will sometime want to preserve Bumi 1.0 to trash a trojan that will surely be installed (usually Botulus).

Otherwise, it mainly depends on the credit pool of the corp, but it is usually a snap rez, just like with Drafter.

What makes this ice the best sentry is its effect on rez and the 1 influence cost. ANY corp can import this ice and will benefit from it. Just like it was with Magnet before rotation.

But it gets better. LEO Construction: Labor Solutions will always put 3x of this ice in their deck. At a cost of 3, it is their cheapest bioroid ice, allowing Bumi 1.0 to becomes the equivalent of Border Control.

Of course, Thunderbolt Armaments: Peace Through Power also benefit from this ice, as it is an AP (antipersonnel) ice that triggers the ID.

If the corp is using Ontological Dependence, then they hope that this ice can trigger once to push down the cost of scoring the agenda.

But the surprise come from the corps who use Trieste Model Bioroids. Forcing the runner to spend 2 or have a Core damage AND trash a program (chosen by the corp) is a harsh penalty. All for the low price of 5 for the corp.

The quote fit well with the effect. The name is a first name, so it doesn't relate to anything. Unless is relate to Kind Bumi from the Last Airbender? The art is colorful and evoke the sense of a big hand trying to flatten the runner. How is that a bioroid? To me, the art is too abstract. A missed occasion for such an amazing ice?
