Deck valid after Fifth Rotation |
It has been more than 6 months since my last iceless deck and a full year since my last ambush related Jinteki deck. So, inspired by my meta mate Nagnazul deck, I tried the archetype using what Parhelion can provide.
Mulligan plan : you want econ first or Mwanza City Grid.
Game plan : flatline the runner, most of the time by using Obokata Protocol as a trap.
First, using Gaslight, try to get as many Punitive Counterstrike in hand as possible. This will have two effects : the runner will slow down to get more credits in hand, and the runner will run less to avoid getting the wrong agenda (meaning Obokata Protocol or Longevity Serum) and thus allowing you to use flatline them.
Second, try to use your Hansei Review on Sting! or Obokata Protocol. This act as a form of ambush in archive.
Third, put Mwanza City Grid first on R&D and then on HQ. Usually, Hokusai Grid is for HQ, but if you see Stargate (the dreaded counter to this deck), then put Hokusai Grid on R&D. Otherwise, Mwanza City Grid will allow you to outrace the runner economy and makes you able to Punitive Counterstrike.
Against Stargate, you can break the lock by using the shuffling effect of Gaslight, Spin Doctor and Genotyping.
If you ever see Apex: Invasive Predator, you'll have to race it because once Heartbeat is on the board, your chances becomes nearly zero.
Installing a Snare! on board is worth it, since everything will be naked with no advance on the board. Only Obokata Protocol will be advanced and left on the board, because it is a trap!
Finally, enjoy the ride and let the runner push their luck. You do not need to care about their board, so no need to look up. Cheers!
