I've been testing this deck on OCTGN and IRL and currently I am really happy with it. The basic idea is to leverage the Bad Publicity by either being able to get things off of Personal Workshop faster, or by gaining credits from Desperado while breaking ICE for free with the efficient Anarch breakers. Optimal is a combination of the two.
Things I really love in my starting hand: Personal Workshop, Desperado, Earthrise Hotel, Sure Gamble, Dirty Laundry, Datasucker or some ICE-breakers. You obviously can't get all of this, but if you have two of the afore-mentioned cards, it is usually a keep.
Initial game plan is to run early, often and aggresively. I often see myself installing a Medium and run on R&D. Either I access, which is great, or I bounce off of the R&D-ICE. However, that keeps the Corp poor plus it allows me to get my Parasites into play.
Breaker Suite is Fixed Breaker + Datasucker + Corroder + Knight for Lotus Fields or surprise runs. D4v1d complements that for nasty stuff such as surprise Archer. Parasites kill things to be able to run even more efficiently, Mediums keep the pressure on the Corp high. It is everything but rare to have a pretty loaded (five tokens+) Medium in the early game, forcing the Corp to purge, thus giving you time to improve your position etc.
Events are the already mentioned Sure Gamble (common staple) and Dirty Laundry, which has an awesome synergy with Desperado, Personal Workshop and Datasucker, but that's nothing new to any Andromeda player. I've Had Worse either as flatline protection or, against HB or such, as card draw to build your rig together as soon as possible. Déjà Vu gets back mostly Parasites. Blackmail is an obvious include as well, further decreasing the Corp's chances to score.
Hardware is Desperado and MemStrips. No words needed for justifying Desperado, I suppose. Pure awesomeness. You actually generate money by running due to the Bad Publicity. MemStrips are needed due to multiple copies of Medium and Parasites in play. It usually comes cheap off of the Workshop.
Resources are 3xEarthrise Hotel, which is desperatly needed in order to account for Valencia's larger deck size. Investigative Journalism is really nice and allows to run sustainably in the mid- to late-game. Armitage Codebusting can help you get out of a credit hole, as this deck plays only six burst economy-cards apart from it. John Masanori is a new addition, in order to increase the consistency even more and also leveraging successful runs on Archives. Personal Workshop was already mentioned. Pure awesomeness. My most favourite opening so far:
Click 1: Install Personal Workshop Click 2: Host Desperado on Personal Workshop Click 3: Dirt Laundry on Archives. Use remaining 2 Credits + Bad Pub to install Desperado. Gain 6 Credits. Click 4: ???

hej, this version is a little outdated. Because I really needed the draw power, I made the following changes: -1 Investigative Journalism -2 D4v1d -2 John Masanori +3 Inject +2 Demolition Run Inject really helped speeding the setup up. Demolition Run is a great addition to a Medium power turn. Concerning your questions: Stimhack is really not as effectful in this deck, I feel. Yog.0 is the only program that can be considered expensive, all the other stuff is hardly longer than two turns hosted on Personal Workshop. I feel you do not need Stimhack, as that is what you abuse the Bad Pub for. When you start with an early Workshop (and optimally an early Desperado), you run Archives or whatever is cheapest to get into and gain a Credit, use the Bad Pub(s) to get tokens off the Workshop cards and maybe even accesses. I do not have thoughts on Valley cards yet. Will need to check them. In Germany, the cards come out a little later, so I did not really check them yet. |
I've wanted to put together a Personal Workshop Valencia to take advantage of the bad publicity.
