big.LITTLE

Bananifier 380

What, a runner? Where? Oh, sorry, I was too busy shooting the moon. Pew pew pew!

This is the deck I can't wait to play once I get my hands on The Source datapack (that, or a Custom Biotics: Engineered for Success variant, with Project Ares and Project Vitruvius to psycho out).

The overall battle plan of the deck

  • Set up your board with assets protected by Manhunt.

  • ICE your centrals with small ICE to slow the runner, and big ICE that you keep unrezzed.

  • Try to lose an NAPD to the runner to trigger a Midseason.

  • big.LITTLE shines when the runner is swimming in tags - you can then use Shoot The Moon to rez most of your big ICE.

ICE mix

I like to surprise the runner, hence the ICE spread, with lots of one-ofs. There are 12 ICE with 3 rez cost or lower, which you can rez before shooting the moon (pew pew pew). The rest cost 4 - 8 creds (5 ICE).

Miscellaneous

  • I know, I know, Shoot the Moon actually refers to shooting a movie of the moon (at least, I think so: http://www.acoo.net/card-detail/815/shoot-the-moon/). Whatever.

  • The deck title comes from the ARM processor architecture, with a single low power core and several high performance ones (google it if you're curious).

That's it! Have fun! pew pew!

I'm itching to give Shoot the Moon a go as well, the effect seems so powerful - a real table turner. I wholeheartedly agree with the ice spread philosophy, keep them guessing by always flipping a new challenge.

It feels to me that your econ might be a tad too weak to fire an impressive Midseason Replacement. You might want to find room for Hedge Fund. May I ask why you're spending influence on Mental Health Clinic rather than go for the neutral PAD Campaign? Freeing that influence will let you run Celebrity Gift - which is spectacular with Midseason (since you can Celeb for seven creds, then hit them with the tagstorm).

Also, I'm not sure how Shoot the Moon is serving you in this deck. You have only one impressive ice to rez (Tollbooth), the rest are relatively cheap. Since you're going for the pew pew plan, maybe add a couple of more big ice? Another Tollbooth, maybe Flare? You could also splash an Hadrian's or even (gasp!) a Curtain Wall.

OH, and Shoot the Moon means to literally shoot the moon - check out the card image, the satellite is firing a fricking "laser" glee

I like the interaction between Mental Health Clinic and Sweeps Week. Besides, the ratio trash-to-rez is better on Mental Health Clinic than on Pad Campaign. But adding Celevrity Gifts is tempting...

Concerning Shoot the moon, I hope that the click efficiency will be as important as its raw economical power. I think I'll still swap an ICE for another tollbooth and try it tomorrow at my FLG (proxying Shoot the Moon).

Now that you mention it, it does seem like the Satellite on Shoot the moon is actually firing at the moon. This. Is. Awesome!

I agree that a rez cost of zero on Mental Health Clinic is great; with that said, the seven credits boost from Celebrity Gift is incredible - especially in combination with Midseason.

What do you mean by click efficiency for Shoot the Moon? StM is an economy card, plain and simple, it does not provide any clicks. Let's compare it to Celebrity Gift and simplify the comparison by ignoring the reveal aspect of Celebrity Gift, the unrezzed requirement of StM, and assume that the runner has two tags. Both cards are Double Operations that cost three credits. For Shoot the Moon to be equal to Celebrity Gift, you would need to rez two pieces of ice that cost ten credits. Right now, with your current ice mix, that is unlikely - in fact, even if the runner has three tags, many of your ice combinations won't reach ten credits.

Either way, good luck with your FLG testing :) Our local store has The Source, so maybe you'll be lucky and yours will have it as well.

Mmmh... You're right on all points. I don't know what I was thinking. I'll work on a second version before testing tomorrow. Thanks a lot for your insight!

laughing That's a bit harsh - building decks is hard!! Best way to do it is practice. I really like the NRDB interface, I feel that these comments really help me when building decks, so I'm trying to give back to the community a bit.
