Advanced Tranquil Ob - 7th Place at EMEA 2024

Hello my dear friends of shaper bullsh.. i mean... Ob shenanigans. With the arrival of "Rebellion without Rehearsal", we all got a couple of new tools to play with and so did my dear Rush/Fast Advance Ob deck.

There are two main differences to the lists i played before:

  1. The agenda suite

  2. Advanceable ICE, that is actally intended to be advance

Concerning point 1: The big reason for the change of the agenda suite is the elefant in the new set, The Holo Man. With this sneaky little sysop, we are able to neveradvance any agenda, even SDS Drone Deployment and get Project Atlas with agenda counters if we have the money to support it. Interestingly enough, Azef Protocol is still the best agenda in the deck and therefore a 3-of since it synergises so well with Ob. Most of our scores even leave us with clicks left to install a new card into our remote, which brings us to Tranquility Home Grid, a late addition but it does wonders especially for the credit hungry Holo Man. With Obs ability, is it not rare, that you even get a trigger out of the grid on the opponents turn. Lastly, with 2 agendas fewer and SDS Drone Deployment as a defensive agenda, we are far less likely to lose on centrals.

Concerning point 2: With Akhet, Ice Wall, Pharos and Tree Line, we have 8 advanceable barrier ice in the list. I saw a lot of K2CP Turbine rigs online and i found this to be the best solution to make taxing servers, if they got their rig out. especially Pharos is very annoying with its 10 strength but even an Ice Wall can get big quickly with the help of Tree Line and Wall to Wall. The other main rig i was thinking about was the Kit Lobisomem + Orca built. With so many barriers, especially Akhet being not fully breakable (the same is true for Afshar on HQ), it is possible to make successful runs really annoying for kit. And with the off chance to kill a breaker with Stavka or SDS Drone Deployment, the matchup should be pretty good.

There are 2 more choices i made, that i want to pinpoint:

  1. Wall to Wall: With the slower style of play, bigger advanceable ICE and especially Tranquility Home Grid, this card got so much better. The fact that you can bounce it and reinstall it or something else for value can be pretty gross. It finally fits the deck and i am super happy with it.

  2. Weird 1-ofs: Slash and Burn Agriculture, NGO Front, Tucana, Audacity. All these cards are there for a specific purpose, namely to be tutored by either Ob or Atlas. NGO can get you out of a hole after a The Holo Man score, and works similar to Wall to Wall in that it does not occupy the remote for very long. Tucana lost a bit of value, since we are running fewer agendas, but it is still a nice tutor target, if you already have all the other components and can fetch us the Pharos should we need it. Audacity and Slash&Burn give us different outs to fast advance our way to victory with an Atlas token which is always nice to have.
