It was actually episode 65. 64 was the interview with Damon.

Just tried this out on Jinteki and really liked it! I was skeptical of Medical Research Fundraiser, but it helped me with critical Siphon recovery. Fun, grindy control deck.

Been playing with this and im rarely finding Cortex Lock is doing much of anything...any thoughts on why this is in? Runners seem to be pretty fast setting up their rig these days and filling up their mem slots. Love the deck by the way!

Cortex Lock was a response to the rise of Faust decks that tend not to fill up at all even through the whole game - now that Siphon Anarchs (DLRs and Eater decks primarily) have been largely replaced by goodstuff anarchs (fill up relatively quickly) and Noises (fill up very quickly) - Shapers very rarely run early so any cheap ICE is basically relegated to doing nothing V Shapers. Cortex Lock may be a little past its prime (although against Criminal, if you see any nowadays, it's extra-good since they usually fill up slowly and can actually get hurt by net damage), but I'm not ready to retire them just yet. If you want to test a list without them, may I suggest +2 Enigma, +1 Komainu -3 Cortex? Those are the other ICE I want to try.

So now that Kala Ghoda spoilers are hot off the presses (and in NRDB, to boot), a couple cards jumped out at me as possibilities for this deck. I'm curious for your thoughts on:

  • Heritage Committee - my thought was that you could play these over Anonymous Tip and regain 2 influence, letting you run something like a Tollbooth or a Vikram 1.0 on the ice side, or a Sweeps Week over Medical Research Fundraiser.
  • Museum of History - obviously most IG decks are going to get this influence-free, unless it's a 49-card version. IG has the additional benefit of this being less likely to get immediately trashed. But is it worth a deck slot or slots to get a Hades Fragment effect?

Not sure on Museum of History in the list I'm playing - while it is strong to reduce the density of R&D constantly I think the games in which you're already losing this card is not very effective - I can't really see it replacing everything since the deck is built to build up asset economy + well defended servers as quickly as possible and this doesn't really help - I think it would be better in a list with Snare and more operation economy rather than the setup I have now.

I'm going to test Heritage Committee but I'm not sure about it - the power level is definitely lower than Anonymous Tip, but it's hard to tell the value of putting something back on R&D.

obviously nice for putting ambushes on top. could put ice or an operation on top so unless they have multi-access, Edward Kim: Humanity's Hammer or Imp they don't get value out of continuous runs.

What a terrific build, well done! I think I'd prefer the 2x Komainu/2x Enigma variation you mentioned, but I'm wanna test drive it as is a couple times first.

All this extra space (with the card count), no room for a Shi.kyu or two? Could make a sniped Vanity Project hurt less...

Thank you! I think I'll try that out myself, Komainu has over-performed and I think Enigma is serviceable everywhere while being very good against Shapers and okay against Crims since you force them to get an actual Code Gate breaker reasonably early in the game, which is basically useless in every other situation.

Also I forgot to reply to your second part - the problem with Shi Kyu is twofold: one, the deck already has lots of pressures on its economy since its ice is quite expensive, so it's hard to justify paying into Shi Kyu when the opponent can just take the -1, and it doesn't help when they store two Vanities, or when they score two TFPs and a Food - only 1 Vanity 1 TFP which means it's only useful in about 50% of games that they get to 7 points.

A single "scored" Shi.kyu doubles the likelihood the runner will need to three agendas to win rather than two (it jumps from 3-in-7 to 6-in-7). Worth considering the splash, but it's not a slam dunk add.

But I think you're right about the economic barrier. Probably not a good fit, unfortunately :/
