Deck valid after Sixth Rotation |
Resilient, fast and agressive shaper. Yeah, it relies on Endurance, which is a given for Shapers in Startup. But this deck also use other shaper tricks to put pressure on the corp.
Game plan : Do what runners want to do, drill centrals, check the remote.
Mulligan plan : Economy and Dr. Nuka Vrolyck
Ayla aside cards plan : You will want Endurance and any programs in there.
Lots of draw power, with 12 cards that can get us other cards. Good economy, with 12 credits positive cards and the Paricia. Fair central pressures with 7 cards helping here.
Our ID was chosen to aleviate the trashing of cards by Tsakhia "Bankhar" Gantulga, while also making the deck virtually 41 cards and find our setup pieces more easily. Ayla "Bios" Rahim: Simulant Specialist is a good ID!
Specifically in Startup, you should strive to always have above 8 in hand at the end of your turn, once Endurance is installed. Because the best way to get rid of Endurance is to use Public Trail, followed by Retribution. You can recover from this, but it will hurt. While it is the same cost (pay 8 for Endurance or Public Trail), the loss of counters and the pain of finding another console would slow us down quite a bit. This advice comes from recent practice, where I learned this the hard way haha!
There are some flex slots :
This deck present the most efficient "breakers" for Startup. Every corp is wary of Endurance and should be built with the idea of facing it. Tsakhia "Bankhar" Gantulga is a staple that see a lot of play and is good here. And Slap Vandal is the Boomerang of Startup. With a low amount of setup, you can put a lot of pressure on the corp.
Finally, never throw out Beatriz Friere Gonzalez. That card will close the game for you, at the late game, once the corp has iced R&D with 2+ ices.
EDITORIAL : It feels to me that shapers are to the Startup format what Anarch are to the Standard format. In both case, you can feel a kind of oppression with the prevalence of those faction (and their strongest cards) for those two format. I still think it is balanced, in their own ways.
Enjoy!
