Trans Rights Are Human Rights! (201st @ Worlds 2023 3-3)

Gathzen 387

Thank you to NSG and all the people who were involved in the organization of Worlds. This was my first one and it was amazing!

This was my Corp deck.

Decklist

This deck is an updated version of my deck from French Nats. There were 2 waves of changes. I first did some changes after French Nats that I thought would make the deck a bit more consistent and have a bit more econ. One day before Worlds I had a discussion with one of my roommates for Worlds, Xiaat, and I was asking him for advice on my Arissana deck as I found it to be a bit too slow to setup and get started. I then made a few changes based on what we talked about. The changes are:

  • -1 Prognostic as I didn't feel like getting it early was a necessity and it also didn't feel as good if I didn't have LilyPAD installed.
  • -2 Bahia Bands, the 2 upfront credits didn't feel great when I needed the card draw for econ.
  • +1 Creative Commission and Sure Gamble for more consistent turn 1 econ and more upfront econ before I am setup.
  • +3 Diesel and -3 Nuka. I made this change to get the more explosive draw to hopefully setup a bit faster.
  • -1 LilyPAD and -1 Urban Art I used to prefer having 3 of each to be sure to get it as soon as possible, but this meant it would take up a considerable amount of extra deck slots for dead cards. I risked the gamble of only having 2 of each, so not getting them as consistently early but giving me more slots for other things.
  • +1 Fermenter. This was at some point 2, but I cut one for the influence to play one copy of Miss Bones.
  • +1 Miss Bones. I had to sacrifice a copy of Fermenter but I felt like it was worth it as the asset spam match-up is the worst.
  • +1 Pinhole as it's a very powerful card that I want to see more consistently in the match-ups I need it.

Results

I would say that overall it did pretty well and the games that I lost were more due to piloting errors that the deck not working. I went 3-3.

  • Round 1 Vs PD: I lost this one on turn 2 due to a game loss. Round 1 turn 1 I forgot to discard at the end of my turn, and we realized only after the Corp took their turn, which resulted in a game loss. This was a pretty terrible start to the tournament but it was a good lesson. I think the PD match-up is not bad and I may have had a chance, but I didn't get to see too much of the deck.
  • Round 2 Vs Asa: I felt like I played quite well on this one and did a good job contesting the remotes and keeping the Corp in check. I won on a deep Conduit dig into R&D.
  • Round 3 Vs Asa: Same here, good pressure early on remotes and central. In addition, the Corp was kind of flooded meaning I was able to win off of some good remote checks and central accesses.
  • Round 4 Vs Asa: Sadly this one didn't go as well as the previous ones but all due to terrible mistakes I made. I had an amazing hand and got too distracted by that, I didn't try and contest the remote so I let a free Rashida go. As soon as turn 2 I realized my error but I then made a second big one. I then tried to contest on turn 2. I had my suspicions that there was a Drafter on R&D but I still ran into it allowing the Corp to get a 2nd Rashida that I could not contest. With all this huge forward tempo there was little I could to keep the Corp in check and catch up to them.
  • Round 5 Vs Outfit: This was probably the most unfun game I had. It was hyper glacier Outfit which didn't try and do anything except ICE up and gain money. I know that Arissana is supposed to have a favored match-up against that type of deck, but I think I most definitely didn't play it well. I was too scared of giving them bad pub. There were already on 2 bad pub turn 2, HQ and R&D were both double ICEed, so I was certain that if I ran any of them it would not dent them too much economically and they would be up to 4 bad pub which meant they would be able to FA their Regulatory Captures from hand. In addition to the fact that I took a long time to setup myself which didn't help too much. The game was not going anywhere and when I tried to Conduit R&D, the ICE was too expensive for me to run there a lot. So in the end I decided to concede to keep time for the other game.
  • Round 6: I decided to ID as I needed only 2 wins for the next prize and was too tired to play much more.
  • Round 7 Vs Asa: This was the first round of the second day and I wished I would have been able to ID this round as well as I wanted to get 1 win and drop to go to play Startup but my opponent didn't want to. I ended up having a really good game and pressured the remotes super well. I had great draw and was able to get all my breakers by turn 4 with a good amount of credits. Plus all the ICE the Corp had was not higher than 3 strength so I didn't have many issues getting in.

I dropped on round 8 with 18 points and an overall score of 6-8.

Possible changes

I don't think there is much I would change with this deck at this time. I might consider switching the Sure Gambles for Dirty Laundry as it has a bit more synergy with Arissana's gameplan. The only other nice thing to have would be a second copy of Hush as it can be a crucial card in certain match-ups and getting it earlier or not having to Simulchip it back if it gets trashed would be a great plus.
