A Code Smörgåtebord

This is my attempt at some Encrypted Portals and Unorthodox Predictions fun. After plenty of games at a casual netrunner meetup, it feels like this deck has come together. In particular the very high (strength 10 Wormhole anyone?) code gates combined with repeated program trashing and Caprice make life awkward for lots of runner decks. Assuming you don't screw up all your psi-games, even PPKate has difficulty affording to run with the required frequency - including when sporting a Gordian. The only code gate breaker that can keep pace is probably Study Guide, which does not like facing Marcus' program trashing. Games against runners without sufficient recursion / code gate breakers will often end in total lockout.

The first 5 or 6 turns can be tricky, where it's hard going to keep a determined early-rushing runner out of all 3 centrals. Especially as the runner will try to deny those Tennin tokens! This means the first piece of space ice usually has to be advanced manually. Once 1 or 2 ice are on each central and a scoring remote it starts to get expensive for the runner and the tempo of the game slows down.

D4v1d can make this deck unhappy if the runner has sufficient recursion.

Synergies:

Code-gates, Encrypted Portals, Mother Goddess.

Expensive servers, Nisei tokens, Caprice Nisei.

Good ol' Grim/Nebula plus Wormhole with Marcus Batty to kill sentry/code-gate breakers as necessary.

Scoring installed but non-advanced agendas in one turn using tennin tokens, TOL and scoring windows created by Unorthodox Predictions (choosing code gate) during the previous turn. The ability to score 4/5 advancement agendas from unadvanced at the start of the turn can force the runner to waste lots of cash running a solo caprice/marcus/jackson, or leave unadvanced agendas alone.

Although Clairvoyant Monitor looks like a perfect fit, the fact it doesn't guarantee ETR puts me off. CM doesn't play nicely with Unorthodox Predictions either.

Subliminal Messaging was also in this deck for a while, but I found it was never there to help when I really needed the money - once the runner was disuaded from attempting a run each turn, the game was already looking good and the cash wasn't so important. Although the synergy with Celebrity Gift was occasionally useful.

Switching 3 Encrypted Portals for an Eden Fragment, piece of ice and a Restructure might be sensible. But that would make it less fun-janky :-)

If you do try this deck out, let me know how it goes!

Cool! The correct spelling however is Smörgåsbord

Thanks! It's an intentional (and bad!) pun ;-)

It's also Jackson Howard, not Jankson.

I actually really like the idea behind this deck. I've done codegate (almost) only decks before, but this is a great spin. I'll test it out on casual night :)

Codegate only was how this started, the program trashing evolved after getting whupped by the odd program (D4vid etc) and realising the deck needed something for the runner to fear! Good luck.
