The Government Is Keeping House

My take on Government Takeover Blue Sun: Powering the Future. I've always loved playing big powerful effects in every game I've played (I qualified in the ANRPC with a Monolith deck) and when I saw Government Takeover I knew it was the card for me.

I feel like it has a strong game against the popular runners right now, but I don't think it has a chance against the DLR Paparazzi deck. This deck plays extremely slowly, to the point that a turn spent clicking for three credits isn't a bad thing. Most runners have been trained to aggressively run and that is exactly what you want them to do. The ice is extremely taxing to get through and they aren't likely to hit anything relevant on their runs. Sit back and just keep making money so that if they make even one mistake you're ready to blow up everything they've ever held dear.

Unusual card choices: Underway Renovation: This was The Future is Now but after playing against runners who like to sit back and wait, Underway Renovation is a very good card. Just keep advancing it behind a big piece of ice and force them to do something about it. If they steal it it's only one point, but if they don't they will quickly be running out of cards.

Melange Mining Corp.: This card is a flex spot, but I decided that having more money isn't bad. Instead of clicking for three credits for a turn why not click for seven? It gets you back into money very quickly and with just one piece of large ice runners will struggle to deal with it.

Housekeeping: This card is frankly just nuts. It's the sole reason I'm at 54 cards. When I brought the deck to the Chicago ANRPC finals I was at 49 with one of these and it more than pulled its weight every time it showed up. It forces them to lose resources they don't want to lose and makes them think in ways they aren't used to thinking. Sure you can get around it by not having cards in hand, but do you want to test that against Weyland? Also if they steal an agenda with Film Critic it stays around which feels great.

Changeling: It's not much weaker than Fire Wall as a barrier and can keep them out even after they've grabbed their barrier breaker. I wouldn't be against changing this to something else though.

Janus 1.0: This is the best ice in the deck. I would run three copies of it if it wasn't so influence heavy. It punishes face checking better than any other piece of ice in the game and when combined with Blue Sun's power it puts fear into every runner I've faced. Once they've seen it once, either due to faceplanting or Oversight AI, every new piece of face down ice is Janus until proven otherwise. I've thought about cutting Blacklist and Snare! just to get the influence for another copy of Janus but those two cards pull a lot of weight as well.

Assassin: I haven't actually tested with this yet as I don't have D&D but it seems strong. It was Mother Goddess which was good at keeping people out early but fell off pretty quickly while this is another way to punish face checking which Weyland severely lacks.

If you have any comments or suggestions let me know, I'm always looking to improve this deck and take it even further.
