This "glass"/"convenience" shop nonsense is just plain broken. IT'S SO BROKEN! Or maybe it's just okay. I dunno.
I took a slightly tweaked NEH "Glass Shop" deck to a small, 7-player, 3-round GNK in Bloomington, IN yesterday and won pretty handily with it. It's really just the "Glass Shop" deck of the week, though I changed two cards -- first, getting a Daily Business Show in there instead of the Midseason Replacements. The Midseasons seemed like overkill; you're not making enough money in this deck to really pull that off, and it's just not necessary. The DBS gets you to the kill pieces you need quicker. Also, I swapped out one Pop-up Window for a Fast Track.
Both changes help the secondary win condition (FA via AstroScript Pilot Program, SanSan City Grid), of course, but they also both help with the primary kill combo. Need to find that Traffic Accident fast? DBS and go through your deck faster. Have a Breaking News scored and just need something else to sacrifice to the 24/7 News Cycle? Fast Track gets you another BN or a 15 Minutes.
On the day, these changes were fine but maybe not necessary -- the DBS did do exactly that above, and got me to a Traffic Accident I needed a turn or two earlier than I would have found it otherwise. Fast Track never got played, as with 3x Breaking News, I consistently saw the agendas I needed for the kill pretty early. I faced a Valencia, a Chaos Theory, and a Noise, and all three were kills -- the Val was a classic Traffic Accident missing her IHW, then Scorched; the Chaos Theory was a Scorched at an opportune moment when his hand size was regrettably at 3, and the Noise was a TA/Scorched with no IHW in hand.
I went undefeated on the day overall, with this deck and playing Josh Wilson's ChiLo Noise.
