A Gentleman Never Runs

Wayward 61

A blackmail deck. It needs the triple combo of Activist Support, New Angeles City Hall (to burn the tag), and Aesop's (to deactivate Activist Support), but Iain Sterling's ability makes the long game viable and Logos can tutor up missing pieces.

With The Source on the table and plentiful expose options, the Corp can't put any agendas down when you're set up or you'll just waltz in and take them. You can sneakdoor in if they're hoarding in HQ (with legwork), while Femmes help with Oversighted ice.

This isn't competitive, but it is dripping with theme. You feel like an imperious old spy once everything is together.

Seems odd that u have so many connections and no hostage, i think -1 Mr Li and -1 Kati for 2x hostage could improve this deck.

Yeah, you may be right. I'm just a little paranoid about having single copies of cards like Li and Katie because I've had things sniped from my hand by things like Jinteki scoring. But Hostages would be more efficient.

This looks extremely similar to a deck i have been trying to make work, the main difference is i went with the efficient central only breakers and used reveal cards + blackmail to snipe remotes late in the game. btw I heartily second the suggestion for hostages rather than doubles of vital resources.

love the name of the deck as well!

Agreed with Pinkwarrior's assessment. You could also drop Activist and Aesop's for Frame Job. It lets you be aggressive early as Criminal (your faction's strength), but also ditch the smallest agenda you find to play up Iain's strength. Here's how I would run this:

Event (22)

Hardware (8)

Resource (7)

Icebreaker (6)

Program (2)

I saw this list and decided to try adjusting my Iain Sterling Blackmail spam to try this style instead. I used the same NACH, Aesops, and Activist Support combo as you in several games on OCTGN and liked how it played.

I meant to take my version to my local tournament, but left a few cards at home so was unable to put together the new list. I played my old blackmail spam and went undefeated, so I'm still out to lunch on this version.

I only run Overmind as an Icebreaker (with E3 Feedback). If you are spamming Blackmail right, you don't need anything else. I also didn't run any of your 3 part combo; instead, just one Frame Job. I'm less likely to draw it, but I don't spend as much time looking for pieces.

I can't decide which version I like better, but I will say both your version and mine have some serious potential.
