Heart Attack Valencia (Clot + Quest Completed)

DrunkenGineer 854

I'm surprised that nobody has published a deck with both Clot and Quest Completed yet. Quest Completed's main weakness, and the reason why it's fallen into disuse, is the fact that it does nothing against fast advance. The thing is, fast advance has received two powerful counters in The Valley, Clot and Traffic Jam. Thus, I think QC is going to come back in a big way.

The Angel of Cayambe

QC fits perfectly into a Valencia deck. By locking down the centrals, you can snipe agendas from remotes with Blackmail. If the corp manages to rez any ice, you can use the incredible efficiencies of Eater and Doppelgänger to QC into the remote. Raymond Flint provides clickless expose (and synergizes with Investigative Journalism) in case you think the corp is bluffing.

This deck is a rough cut, and could be tweaked to improve its matchup against rush, glacier, or flatline decks. However, i think this is a good starting point, and I expect to soon see Quest Completed come back in a big way.

@tmoiynmwg I don't have a stimhack account, but I'd like to submit this deck as one you can use in the invitational.

I like this a lot. Any thought on using a Day Job or two instead of Lucky Find to make room for another clone chip? I haven't played much with clot yet, but I'm anticipating a lot of purging to get rid of it, and love the idea of cloning one in at will.

@IctSpiceMerchant I can dig it, but to keep the card count at 50, you'd probably be cutting a Clot. My initial thought is that 2 Clot 2 Clone Chip doesn't have enough of a benefit over 3 Clot 1 Clone Chip to be worth weakening the economic package, but it's worth testing to find out.

@DrunkenGineer I played a couple times today. One was against an Argus Security: Protection Guaranteed deck. I got lucky with a couple of early R&D accesses and Blackmail runs and won 7-0. Clot was obviously a non-factor and Quest Completed never fired, but I was able to create some nice pressure with Keyhole.

I lost the second game to an HB Fast Advance deck, which sucks because I made some key mistakes, namely not having enough cash to install my Clot via a Clone Chip. I did fire Raymond Flint and QC for a steal, which is supremely satisfying. Economy was an issue in that game, so you're probably right about Lucky Find.

I did add in 3 clone chips and took something out (I can't recall, but I did end up with a bloated 51 or 52-card deck). This resulted in a key error of being far too willing to draw up and pitch them into my heap before playing them. That's not ideal.

Traffic Jam was a non-factor. We don't have a lot of NEH in our casual playgroup, so I might look at other options for what could be played there. Any suggestions?

I love the deck and look forward to more testing. Thanks for the inspiration!

@IctSpiceMerchant Wow, thank you so much for playing my deck! I'd definitely lock it down to 50 cards first, but if you have extra space and nothing to do with it, you can never go wrong with more econ. Dirty Laundry is never a bad choice. I was thinking Paige Piper could work too, to thin the extra Doppelgänger, Kati, and breakers.

Try -2 Traffic Jam, -1 Lucky Find, -1 Clot, +1 Clone Chip, +3 Dirty Laundry first.

@IctSpiceMerchant actually, if you can clear up the Lucky Find influence with Dirty Laundry, you can add in Crescentus for when the corp manages to rez a code gate on a remote. Also remember that you can turn Infiltration into 2 credits in a pinch.

Go for:
-2 Lucky Find -2 Traffic Jam -1 Clot +1 Clone Chip +2 Dirty Laundry +2 Crescentus

If that single Lucky Find is too awkward, maybe this will work:
-1 Lucky Find -2 Traffic Jam -1 Clot -1 Utopia Shard +1 Clone Chip +2 Dirty Laundry +1 Crescentus +1 Something

I actually prefer Spooned over Crescentus - that feels easier to recur (if needed instead of Blackmail) & doesn't require any influence.

I'd really like to get Paige Piper and maybe a normal code gate breaker in there somewhere, but I'm not sure either add to the quality of the deck at all.

I've published my decklist, so hopefully you can see it under the "inspiration for" tab.

@IctSpiceMerchant Fair enough, the cutlery are a decent option too.

I can see your decklist as well, I'm looking forward to hearing about how it performs.

@tmoiynmwg if you're thinking of using this deck for the invitational, I recommend adding more econ (Dirty Laundry), a way to deal with code gates (Crescentus or Spooned), and possibly more draw (probably Inject or Quality Time). Drop the Traffic Jams for sure, I'm not sure what else to cut.
