Metropole Andy

MikeJS 678

Took this to the local Store Championship. Undefeated in Swiss (one of those games was a draw). Lost in the cut to a Mushin HB that scored ManUps on turn 2. Good enough to get my that tasty Run Amok playmat.

This is based on an Andy deck I watched Andrej from Metropole Grid (@amavric) play. I loved it immediately, and have iterated and changed quite a few things throughout a fair amount of play testing.

I know there is a lot of competition out there, but I think this is a wonderful deck that has answers for a lot of things, while being strong enough at it's core to just be really solid.

The big debate is The Supplier vs Career Fair. If you look at it purely economically, CF is possibly better, but being able to host cards (21 out of 46 in fact) at zero cost is huge. Just keep it safe.

I'm sure this is clear to a lot of people by now, but Aaron Marrón is the best Crim card since Account Siphon. And guess what he pairs tremendously with...

Give it a whirl.

Congrats on the finish, @MikeJS! Our two decks are surprisingly similar. You've probably done more playtesting than I have, so I have a bunch of questions to toss at you:

  • How useful are the Tapwrms? I cut mine at the last minute, because I run two Datasuckers, and didn't want to make purging too enticing. Having a 0 install cost card for you starting hand seems useful. Also, is a single untutorable Datasucker enough?
  • Did you ever end up installing and using Peregrine? With Sifr and Datasucker, Peregrine is only 'necessary' for Lotus Field. I never play it.
  • Did you find the Mimic to be necessary? Mongoose is typically cheaper to use with Datauscker/Sifr. Are you running into the double sentry stack?
  • How often did you play the HQ Interfaces? I cut mine, as I found The Turning Wheel to be enough multi-access pressure.

I think we both included some specific tech cards. I tossed in a Councilman (I swear by this card) while you have On The Lam and Feedback Filter. How good is Feedback Filter? It seems a bit pricey, considering that slot could be another Scrubber to proactively help deal with the Bio-Ethics and the spiky assets, as well as being useful in more match ups. How often are you using On The Lam?

Salsette Slums - solid include. Does so much work, doesn't it!

Thanks for checking this out @amavric.

I found the Tapwrms to be excellent. Worst case scenario they were a 1 click, 1c Encore, as I mainly played them early. Late game, I don't like them as the MU is usually 3x breakers, Datasucker, Sneakdoor Beta. Best case scenario however; I had both arrive early against a Blue Sun: Powering the Future deck, and they netted me maybe 20 credits and 1 extra turn. That's monumental.

Peregrine hit the table once, and I hated it. It was against a deck running Lotus Field, because my meta was teched against Sifr in a big way! I also noticed it impacted my play. I was reluctant to commit to Yog.0 too early in case of a Lotus rez.

Mimic wasn't used on the day, but I've used it in testing against HB, exclusively.

I actually love HQ Interface, probably my favourite card from the deck. Getting 1 down early means HQ runs are providing more information. Getting 2 down is huge, as every HQ run is now a legwork, and I can spare all my counters for R&D. Plus, the discount from Supplier is huge. And the natural synergy with Sneakdoor.

Slums is too good. I can't build a deck without it now.

I was at 44 cards and had 1 of Councilman, PolOp and On The Lam. I was unsure which 2 to take... I think Councilman is almost strictly better than On The Lam, because it's ability to disrupt is more widespread. On The Lam is nice Snare! protection however ;)

I also agree, I think Feedback Filter should be a 2nd Scrubber.
