Nothing Special Leela

falseidol 430

Leela Patel is my favorite ID, and while her prominence waxes and wanes, its clear that her power is in the hands of the player, and knowing your ID and your deck makes up for a lot of shortcomings (cough Peacock). This deck plays classic Netrunner, but also deal with the best ID in the game (blah blah Whizzard: Master Gamer)

My breaker suite is a lot like my Andromeda deck, with the notable exception that I've replaced Faust with Atman. This is because you lack a lot of the programmed redundancy in Andromeda, and because HB specifically, already represents a difficult match-up for you, so Atman4 will just be more useful to you then a Faust. But, Faust is not out of the question, if it suits your fancy. Two Mongoose because Leela draws a bit slower, and Atman doesn't relieve as much stress on your breakers. On the other hand, Leela has so many tricks to make multiple ICE a nonissue--I still felt obligated to include the 2x. Peacock remains garbage, but Cerberus "Rex" H2 is only better on a couple of ICE, and I didn't have the deck space for 2-3 Cerberus'. Peacock is crappy, but most ICE that give you a hard time are also decent targets for Emergency Shutdown.

Test Run: I floated around between Run Amok, DDoS, and other exorbitant uses of my influence; since all these cards cost 3 credits, and realistically get you through one ICE (its true, DDOS can chain, and sometimes Run Amok slams all the way through a server, generally speaking, you can expect them to get you past one ICE), I figured Test Run gives me that in the form of of Femme Fatale (and is in some ways better, since you can target the exact ICE you want), it also fetches Sneakdoor Beta, a great card to have on demand.

The other thing about Test Run, I can't tell you how many times the extra click Special Order requires has made it impossible to play for an agenda, Test Run is agile enough to Run, Test Run, Run and still have a click left. Since you have Test Run, and pretty aggressively draw through your deck, I've found that just two Special Order is plenty.

So a big part of this deck's strategy is the Gang Signs, which I initially wrote off as a gimmick when it came out, but have grown increasingly fond of. They are constantly proving useful in picking up agendas, double-tapping your ID ability, and/or providing cheap, influence-free HQ pressure. Legworks are still great, but I've felt well covered between Gang Sign and Sneakdoor Beta, both of which are immune to Crisium Grid and don't need to run HQ to be effective. Two Sneakdoor is a big deal. They have been relevant in almost all of my games, its one of the best cards in criminal--make the corp respect it!

Kati Jones over Security Testing because your worst match-ups also block SecTest pretty well, and Bank Job makes a fine complement to Kati Jones without putting all your eggs in the successful run basket.
