Tech Lord Geist! 1.0

Dydra 2811

This to me seems the most solid version of an Armand deck atm. Career Fair will help with the install of Earthrise/Data Folding and Underworld. Basically, any opening hand with Career Fair you keep or/and Earthrise Hotel.

I can't decide if some Visage will be good, because the deck needs draw to setup properly. That being said the playstyle of this runner isn't run every turn, run fast, rush non stop ... it's quite the opposite ... it's about making runs that matter.

I love the ID and it will be the first one that will stick in my sleeves for more than 1 or 2 weeks of testing. :) His ability basically levels to the ground some annoying kill decks like Butcher shop. Oh, you Traffic/Scorched me and I'm about to die?! Let me pop up a bunch of sac effects to draw back out of your kill range.

Some cards that are totally worth considering in this deck are the Utopia/Hades shards and maybe Decoy, in a tag-heavy meta. :)

All being said, absolutely love this ID. :)

I like what you've done here! I agree that Decoy would be a good shout if you're seeing a lot of tagging (it's a good way to shed quckly out of Psychobeale range after Midseason Replacements while also drawing out of kill range. I don't know what I'd cut for it though - perhaps the Fall Guys, but Fall Guy is SO GOOD in Geist!

I'd maybe consider Breach over Corroder and stick with Shiv or a backup AI for remotes, and find room for some Shards or other creative influence (Scrubber is nice in today's asset-heavy meta, for example) but that's obviously just tweaking the shell.

Other possible changes would be swapping Career Fair for 1x The Supplier and 2x Hostage (he's a great complement to your other Resources and Hardware).

Kudos, this looks pretty solid :)

Hello Feesh,

Some very legit suggestions here, especially about The Supplier with Hostage, since the later will allow for you to fetch your Underworld Contact as well. My take on this though, is that after the Lukas clarification about The Supplier, this sort of slows down his speed. Which might not be bad in a deck like this, as I said, it's not run-every-turn deck. :) On the HW part though, it will only make a difference for the 2 R&DI, since Clone and Forger are 1 each. Forger, in a way, is in fact tag-removal for 1c/click, rather than the "manual" versionof 2c/click. What I mean is that, by playing Forger, from your hand in order to remove a tag, you gain a lot more. So keeping Forgers in hand, rather than discarding them, seems pretty legit. :)

I think the choice between Career Fair and The Supplier will come to playstyle. Dropping right now v.s. going for the long run. Will definitely try out both though. :)

Given that this isn't a run-every-turn deck, and I assume you want to save your cloudbreakers for the remotes, why not swap out 2RDI and Legwork for 1Zu and 2Hqi? Also, maybe some room for 2SpecialOrder?

I like this deck though, I had a similar thought but seems like someone beat me to it.

I would not swap the 2x RDI for anything :) They are your late-game tool. Once you have them setup + sufficient econ/icebreaker down, of course you start hammering the R&D as much as it makes sense.

You might want something that gives you permanent +1. If you have more than 4 breakers out and trash a Forger, your rig is busted and all your drip econ turns off. You can sorta play around it, but that's rather restrictive.

I agree with FarCryFromHuman. I see your point on the 2 RDI, but maybe a Borrowed Satellite woudln't be a bad addition if you can drop some influence?

Hell, even run Access to Globalsec if you want to make sure you have permalink. In multiples it has the added benefit of making you resistant to both Midseasons and Punitive (as well as some trace ICE).

Why won't super a common sentry like Architect just destroy this deck? Even if you draw all your shivs and use all your Clone chips, you are only getting past six sentries in an entire game?

@FarCryFromHuman That's a very valid argument. Although, as you pointed out, you can play around it ... and initially HW is hard to trash, if you decide to sac Forger yourself you can do it when you have your next one in hand.

Might worth considering an Dyson Mem Chip and then going down The Supplier path, since the install will come for 1c.

@martik87 No, that card doesn't worth the influence :)

@weepinggorilla , 12 times actually ( Levy AR Lab Access ) :) As I pointed out, the point of this deck is to make runs that matter ( Legwork, R&D hits with 1-2 Interface and ofc threaten remote), so if you make 12 runs that matter, most likely you will win the game anyway. If that proves to be SUCH a big deal, you could always try to throw in an Overmind.

@Dydra: The problem with saccing a Forger when you have another in hand is still that once you do, you momentarily dip back to 1 on 4. All your programs over 4 still get discarded before you play another source of . To play around this, you are obligated to use your trashable breakers on a run you potentially don't want to make... I'm probably making a big deal out of nothing but I hate having my play decisions restricted artificially.

1 Jul 2015 Dydra

Yes, that's exactly what I have in mind - you play around it. :) As I said a singlethon of Dyson might be more than enough. Although I personally would severely playtest in the current format before going there. Want to see how often exactly will I want to sac my Forger or it gets trashed.

1 Jul 2015 FarCryFromHuman

Yeah I think test first, change later is absolutely the correct approach. Sadly I have very little playtime so pretty much all I can do is theorycraft... hence my prolific commentary on netrunnerdb = P

I seriously don't see the benefit of Dyson Mem Chip over Access to Globalsec in this deck. Once you have 2 , you have no need for the extra that Dyson is giving, and you're either delaying the install by sticking it on The Supplier for a turn or paying too much for 1 .

Unless you're running Overmind as well, just stick with Globalsec.

2 Jul 2015 Dydra

@CommissarFeesh It would be just nitpicking, but the HW is just a bit more resiliant :) If you get into some tag situation the Global sec might go away .... but this is, as I said, just nit-picking :) Globalsec Definitely easier to install if you don't have the supplier out.

I think having extra draw cards is the way to go (compared to other Armand "Geist" Walker: Tech Lord decks I have seen). In my draw testing it was just too slow otherwise. I am keen to play this ID. Doubt it will be top tier but should be lots of fun to play.

Well done on the deck, @Dydra!

Played 5 games today, the deck is 4-1. Only loss came to a smooth Astro train on corp's side, while me struggling with 0 hostage/ Supplier.

The version I'm playing though is -3 Career Fair +2 Hostage and +1 Supplier. +E3 , + Dyson, - 1 Data Folding - 1 Inside Job

In my games I found out Account Siphon to have a pretty mediocre role. I'd like to have 3-4 breakers down, before siphoning, which usually isn't early game, since you want to hit draw and econ early as well. The credit swing seems alright, but it definitely wasn't money denying the corp to cripple them for 2-3 turns.

I'm thinking about going to 2 AS or removing them completely. Might be better to get more Inside Jobs or Legworks ...

One truth though, I feel that multi-access is absolutely necessary for this deck. Legwork and R&D Interface solely carried 3 games. They give tempo and late-game tools.

"As I said - make runs that matter!"
